Question: Hello Doctor,
Could you please tell me "Is soya milk or any soy products is good during pregnancy"?
My sister is 23 weeks pregnant (G1, P0, A0) with everything fine in recent TIFFA scan. Can she take soy milk as it is rich in calcium and protein?

Also, Ranitidine is safe to use for gastric pain during pregnancy?

Brief Answer:
Soy products can be consumed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

Soy products are safe to use in pregnancy. Soymilk and tofu should be less preferred than other varieties.

Ranitidine is a category B drug in pregnancy according to the FDA. This means there are no evident ill effects on the fetus in studies and hence, the drug can be used if necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
