Question: Hello,

After major anger and stress and some alcohol use the past 3 weeks I am forgetting some names when speaking and sometimes when reading I have to read 2 times to understand, I also mix names sometimes. I say "em" more often when talking in sentences

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Stress is very well established cause of impairment in memory and can cause mild forgetfulness to severe forgetfulness, word finding difficulty and mixing of names in addition to many others. Unfortunately alcohol does not help in the stress when memory is concerned and it causes more problem addition.

Considering the fact that you are just 42 years (not associated with dementia) and there is ongoing anger and stress, I feel stress management is the key to resolve ongoing problem with memory.

It is also important to avoid thinking much about the problem as it also adds with the problem. Over self consciousness with such issues should be avoided as far as possible as it increases the stress.
