Question: I have a sore purple sore.near my bellybutton. I am having knee replacement in a few days. Concerned about this sore.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
From the description given, it probably appears to be a boil or furuncle.
A furuncle may present as a red or purple tender bump which later on develops a head or pus point and resolves once the whole pus drains out.
It can be treated with warm water compresses followed by mupirocin cream application.
This should not be a deterrent to knee replacement.
If having any doubts it is always better to consult with your treating doctor.
