Have Noticed A New Mole. Is This Melanoma?

Question: Hello,

I have jusr noticed a new mole (i think) i have attached a photo- does this look like melanoma ?? Very worried here - will call dr today too

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
The mole seen in image attached probably does not look like melanoma.
A melanoma has certain features like
asymmetry ie two halves of the lesion do not resemble each other
border border is irregular
color - color is variegate(one half might be brown, other half black)
diameter- it is more than 6 mm

if a mole is itchy, changes color, size, shape, becomes painful or bleeds then also melanoma should be ruled out.

In the image attached, none of the above features are seen
However, I would advise that you XXXXXXX a dermatologist nearby to get the lesion clinical examined and if required, you may get the lesion biopsied for confirmation of diagnosis.
