Question: I am 38 Yes old, have an iud in place for the past 3 years, had 11inches of my large intestine removed over 5 years ago due to a rupture from diverticulitus. About 7 months ago my urine started having a very foul smell, I've had multiple uti's in the past but have been checked and I haven't had one for over a year. Recently during my period I had a horrible pain in my lower abdominal, it felt like it was behind my uterus in my colon area. I thought my iud had moved and was tearing into my colon. Saw a Dr, they did an ultra sound and it wasn't my iud. They didn't look for anything else during the ultrasound, had a full exam and STD testing and the Dr couldn't explain it and wasn't too concerned. It was an urgent care clinic, so I'm not sure they wanted to really find out. Please help, What could be wrong with me?

the pain only happens occasionally, no I'm not having pain right now, it's not constant. no nausea, vomiting, fever or tenderness. I've noticed it before when I need to have a bowel movement. this is kind of descriptive but I feel like my bowel movement creates even more pressure and I can feel it moving through my colon, and I'll get sharp pains on the back side of my uterus. 2 months ago when I thought my iud tore I was in severe pain, and could hardly sit or stand or move.

Brief Answer:
Need a CT scan abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the add on information.
There could me many causes for the condition you described but the commonest assumption is Adhesions. Adhesions form after intra abdominal operation and then it leads to the kind of pain that you are describing. It increases during the bowel movement. Its difficult to diagnose adhesion on USG and you may require a CT scan abdomen.
Another possibility is a renal or ureteric calculi and the USG needs to be done when the bladder is full. Ployps may also lead to this kind of pain.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.

Brief Answer:
Need to evaluate urine sample

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the follow-up query.
There are many reasons for the foul smelling urine. Commonest among them is the infection. Infections cause this kind of odor and are easily diagnosed by doing a culture and sensitivity of the urine sample.
Diabetes XXXXXXX also cause this symptom and you need to get a random blood sugar done.
Also some medicines can cause such kind of odor. If you are taking some medicines regularly then you should consider them as a cause.
Hope that helps
