Inguinal swelling could be due to many causes and that includes inguinal hernia and enlarged lymph nodes.

Since you have fever also, enlarged lymph nodes is a likely cause as infection can cause enlarged lymph nodes and fever.

A complete blood count and a clinical examination may be done for further evaluation.

If the swelling is very tender with the overlying skin appearing red, report to your doctor immediately.
