Posted on Fri, 6 Jul 2012
Question: Dear Sir or Madam M.D.
My question is on a crusty gritty painless
Moveable brownish red scab on the margin
of my hairline.
I started using cinnamon leaf oil with a Qtip swab
on it yesterday, and it became bloody ( not dripping,)
Just the swab was bloody from me gauging into and cleaning
The area, it is much smaller now, I wasn't
sure if it's an exteriorization of a vermin ( I travel to
Jamaica frequently or if it's the big C,
I am very concerned but hopeful.
Thanks so much. XXXXXXX

Hi!,

Thank you for posting the query,

You have provided with good information regarding your skin problem and it is a very good description. I appreciate it.

However it would be good if you can answer few of my queries:

1) How long you have been having this?
2) Do you observe scales peeling off the lesion?
3) How many of such lesions you have?
4) Do you have problem of excess dandruff?

I would appreciate if you can please post a picture of the lesion as it would help me suggest you better.
You have a feature to upload the reports / image by yourself at the right side of the query page, please utilize that so that I can answer your queries better.

I shall address your concern based on your current given information.

According to your present description it seems as if you have seborrheic dermatitis or scalp psoriasis.Usually these things are seen over the hair line region.

The treatment of the two condition is topical steroids .
But I'll be able to give a more firm answer once I see the lesions clinically.

Awaiting for your reply with pictures .

Dear Dr Chawda
Thank you so much for your reply.
The lesion is fairly new and I never have
had it before.
I don't have any dandruff etc.
What is there now is a remnant of what it
was, it didn't peel as much as the cinnamon leaf
oil basically dissolved most of it.
It's novas rough and crusty, it wasn't scaly.
I believe you're correct on the dermatitis,
As children I was in contact with in Jamaica
had scalp eruotions.
I don't know how to send the photo I took.
My mother was telling me to check for Melanoma.
I didn't think it was or that melanoma 'dissolved'
the way an actual 'blood' skin scab does?
Thanks a lot!

Hi!,

Thank you for the reply,

I wish you had send me the picture. You have a feature to upload the reports / image by yourself at the right side of the query page, please utilize that so that I can answer your queries better.
You can even send it at YYYY@YYYY do mention "ATTN Dr.Bharat chawda" as subject. Also kindly reply to this post saying that you have mailed a picture.

Without looking at the pictures ,I would still stick with the possibilities of it being either seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. Both would respond to a moisturizer or a topical steroid.

A melanoma would not respond to topical moisturizers ,but a look at the lesions would help me further guide you.

In case you are not able to send the pictures I would advise you to consult a skin specialist as these medicines are prescription based medicines.Your dermatologist can also plan for a skin biopsy to rule out the possibility of a melanoma.

I thank you again for submitting your question. I hope you found my response to be helpful and informative. If you have any additional concerns I would be happy to address them.

Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.

I don't see that the photo uploaded.
I think that it is probably just as you said,
I don't think melanoma dissolves.
I really appreciate your help.
I was at my wits end because I think
my health is good ( I am a homeopath )
and to date, I have been very healthy
and to go from this to death was very disconcerting.
( I am joking)...
My teacher WWW.WWWW.WW would help but
I didn't want to put any pressure in him,
if it seemed to not be a problem.
Thanks so much Dr Chawda.

Hi!,

Thank you for the picture ,but unfortunately the picture is not very clear to make out anything.

I am happy to know that you are a homeopath, you would understand better.

According to the history it still seems to be a dermatitis and not a melanoma.

Hope I've answered your query.

Should you have additional concern regarding the same ,I would be happy to address it.

Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.
