Frequent Urination With Burning Sensation. Took Azo And Monistat. UTI Or Yeast Infection?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 May 2013
Question: Two weekends ago I had a constant need to pee. I figured it was UTI, so I drank plenty of water and took Azo. It got a little better, but then developed a really sensitive sensation of my clitoris at the very end of peeing (to the point where I'd dig my nails into my skin and flinch). I continued to drink plenty of water and the sensitivity got a little better. Then I noticed It started to have a slight burning sensation and figured I had a yeast infection. So I used Monistat. Now the the constant peeing feeling came back and my clitoris is as sensitive as when it first started. I feel so uncomfortable and though not needing to pee... I contiue to have the constant urge to go.

Hi

Thanks for asking.

Urinary tract infections are a fairly common group of diseases presenting in females more commonly than the males.

As you have already taken azithromycin without any benefit, I will advise you to go for urine complete examination along with urine culture.

You may be infected by a type of bacteria which is not sensitive to azithromycin so may need another antibiotic for a longer period to eradicate the infection.

Also get your sugar levels checked as the urinary tract infections are very common in diabetes.

Thanks.

I am happy to take follow-up questions if needed.
