Question: hello
I have recently met a girl with whom i have had sex a few times now. After the first time i found some red spots on my penis, there was no pain or itchiness, just a little burning when i peed. I got scared i cought an std(herpies in particular) and got tested and come up negative, she got tested as well and also was negative. We had sex few more times, and again i got some red spots. this time i put some topical cream and the spots went away the next day. I havent seen her in a while, and i found myself getting these red spots even when i masturbate. do you have any idea what it is?

Brief Answer:
Do not worry it is not herpes or any STD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome and thanks for posting your to XXXXXXX

I can understand your concern for the possibility of herpes or any other Sexually Transmitted Disease.

According to your query you have red mark on your penis head without itching and other symptoms which begun after recent contact with latest partner and now occurring after masturbation too.

Now to tell you the best part is that you do not have herpes or any of the symptoms which match with herpes or its symptoms or any other Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

To tell you medically - Herpes lesions manifest itself as small vesicles (fluid filled blisters) which remains for just a day or two and then forms ulcers which are quite painful. These ulcers then heals in next 5-7 days.

To begin with also these vesicles are quite painful and itchy with discomfort and once the vesicles burst in a day or two then the ulcers which are formed are quite painful for next 4-5 days. So the symptoms can never go unnoticed.
In yourself I can make out that no such symptom is present matching with the above symptoms.

So you can rest assured regarding the rarest possibility of herpes.

Now the symptoms of redness- The red areas are actually appearing due to friction during the intercourse or masturbation. Even sometimes there is appearance of mild frictional blisters which are formed due to the friction and force during the sexual act. Due to the friction and force applied, the superficial skin gets mild peeled off and abraded and it leads to the kind of redness which you mentioned. This is very very superficial and and so heals in a day or two and it never leads to any problem. Let me tell you again that these things are quite normal and usual things.

To prevent this redness in future, do not apply extra pressure or force during sexual act or masturbation.

Hope I have answered your query, if you have any further query I will be happy to help.
Wish you good health

thank you for your reply, however, i do agree with you that its not herpes, i also got tested and came up negative. I however dont think this is cause by friction of sex, i have had a collection of partners in the past and this was never an issue, and i have always applied a good bit of pressure when i masturbate, and this has never been an issue until i has sex with my current g-friend. I also feel slight discomfort when i pee, like a slight burning. can she have something besides an std that might have cough like an infection or something else? Her and I both had STD test, and both came up negative for everything.

Also I just want to be sure i describe the condition, there is no red areas just red spots, like someone used a red pen and made tiny dots that are bumps, they also appears on the inside of the skin right under the head of the penis, but there they look like tiny red irritated spots, they look a little different on head and under it.
thank you

Brief Answer:
Do not worry both of you have clean status

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to the forum again.

So it is good that you now do not have any stress regarding herpes. But you still do have a fear of something in your girl friend which might be causing the red spot and burning sensation during urinating.

Let me reassure you young man that as per the history provided by you, you and your girl friend have a clean status regarding any Sexually Transmitted Disease. I quite often see your kind of problem in young men. And after whole series of battery of investigation we do not find any microorganism responsible directly to cause this. Young men like you are quite confused regarding possibility of any STD.

In these cases we consider it as a subclinical manifestation of the normal microflora at the penile skin. The normal microflora means that our skin harbours millions of normal bacteria as well other microbes. These usually do not cause any problem. Sometimes due to difference in pH of male and female skin, these micrflora can subclinically cause mild redness as well as mild infection at the urinary opening. So there can be redness as well as burning during urination.
Over all let me assure you again that all your symptoms are normal. There is nothing wrong in you as well as your girlfriend.

So relax and keep your stress away for the possibility of any STD. I personally recommend you to use condoms which gives 99.99% protection against any type of STD.

Hope I have answered your query, if you have any further query I will be happy to help.
Wish you good health

thank you for your reply and a lot of the things you say make total sense. It doesn't however explain everything. Let me give you few more details to why im still concerned. This is not my first g-friend, i am 35 and have had active sex life for about 20 years, and have never experienced this reaction before. Not during sex nor during masturbation. I do understand that, that doesnt mean that my current g-friend cant be different, but the thing is, I havent been with her for about a month, and i still get the red bumps and irritation after masturbation...First time i masturbated after seeing her was 2 week later and the following day i had the same red spots as i did after sexual intercourse with her. i didnt do anything different then before but the next day i got red spots, burning sensation and even very slight discomfit, to where it doesnt really hurt but always feels like something is different. i would totally buy into your explanation, if i didnt get the same reaction to masturbation when she isnt there and i havent seen her in weeks... this is not a normal way my body reacts to it. Hope that gives you some extra isight into why im experiencing this discomfort.

thank you

Kinldy go through the detailed answer

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to the forum again. As I said previously in majority of the cases the most common cause of this kind of redness is just a normal phenomenon.

As you said the redness or red tiny dots are also evident after masturbation- so that makes a clear cut indication that it is not at all a Sexually Transmitted Disease as STDs are never spread by masturbation.

Now for the part that why these are occurring at the age of 35 years.

To explain you again- you should know the very first fact that our penile skin is the thinnest skin on the body. It is such a thin skin that even the blood vessels are directly visible over it. This redness of the blood vessels is many times confused with some kind of skin problems such as red rash or related thing. In your case also this redness can be due to this simple normal phenomenon of the human penile skin.

It is quite common in all men but more pronounced in persons above 30 years of age due to mild to moderate thinning of the skin due to aging factor.

The last part we rarely encounter is in prediabetics. It means if anybody has a probability of diabetes in future then also these red dots appears infrequently. But in these cases these appear without any obvious reason. It is different form your case as in yourself these appears only after intercourse or masturbation.

So I opine you to kindly do not worry about the problem. If at all in future these appears without any reason then can go for your sugar check to rule out diabetes.

Hope you must be relaxed now, if you have any further query I will be happy to help or if you do not then can close the discussion and rate the answer.
Wish you good health
