Question: Hi there, I am a healthy 28 year old male and have recently found a hard lump on my anus while using the bathroom. I am heterosexual, and a virgin. Nothing has ever been back there other than my hand to wipe. I do have a history of hemorrhoids (including recently), as well as a history of colon polyps since I was young. I'm scared that this could be some kind of wart or something like that, though it does not appear or feel like one. It's small and hard, like a little rock under my skin. The skin from what I can feel feels smooth.

I have attached a photo as best I could take of it. I apologize for the graphic photo.

Hopefully you can ease my troubled mind.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the photographs attached. It looks like a classic hemorrhoid.

A hemorrhoid is basically a small swollen blood vessel in the area of the anus. On occasion, these can be triggered by - prolonged sitting, heavy lifting or possibly from anal sexual intercourse.

These are not XXXXXXX or life threatening.

Let me give you a few suggestions as far as what to do now. First, twice daily I'd like you to sit in a warm batch in the bathtub for 20 minutes. The warm water will sooth the area and help shrink the swollen tissue.

Next, you can go to any local pharmacy and pick up a tube of preparation H cooling gel. This is a clear gel which you can apply to the swollen areas after each bowel movement and also at bedtime. Over time this helps also to shrink the hemorroidal tissue.

Again, hemorrhoids are common and not worrisome. Occasionally they can become larger and bleed but in your case this is not a concern.

I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

I was in a car wreck a little over a week ago and tweaked my back a little. Today, when I went to the restroom I had a large amount of blood in my stool. So much that the entire toilet water was red and the toilet paper was covered in blood. I ve been diagnosed with hemroids before and jut needed to eat more fiber and all was fine, but I want to make sure tha these two things are not related because of the amount of blood there was.

I have some tailbone pain after a slight fall on Tuesday but I also have some pain in the rectum and itchiness. I had a colonoscopy last year and was told I had 2 internal hemorrhoids .I had the the symptoms of pain in the rectum and itchiness before I fell on my tailbone. I had a very small amount of blood on my bathroom tissue but only one time 3 days ago. Are these hemorrhoids acting up and what s the best way to proceed.

I have a hemorrhoid and I looked up how to treat it. The websites talked about procedures and what not, but I also found one that offered natural remedies. This website instructed me to avoid spicy foods, oily foods, junk foods and fast foods. Also, it said not to drink alcohol, tea, coffee or smoke. Now, I have two questions: Are these going to help my hemorrhoid go away? When it says to avoid smoking, is it talking about cigarettes, marijuana, or both?

There is a small amount of blood on the tissue after I wipe after a bowel movement. I also itch and sometimes am sore. I was thinking it was a hemorrhoid and have been using preparation H but it only gives temporary relief and the itch and pain comes back. I m also having irregular bowel movements. I wouldn t say that it s diarrhea but its not solid stool either. Often times after I finish with my bowel movement I still feel like I have to go and get an ache in my stomach. I m not sure if these are all related or separate.
