Brief Answer:
Not extremely high.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Blood pressure reading of 144/107 is high. However, it is not extremely high enough to be concerned. Unless and until you have symptoms such as dizziness, headache, palpitations, chest pain and breathing difficulties, I don't feel, the situation warrants an ER visit.

Since you are in a stressful situation, I recommend deep breathing exercise for 20 minutes and transcendental meditation as the first line of action. Blood pressures should settle down with it. In case BP readings persist to be high on repeated checks in the course of the next 24-48 hours, you may see the doctor to start/alter BP medications.

In between, are you known to be hypertensive? If yes, are you regular with medications?

Hope this helps.
