Question: hi doctor, im XXXXXXX i have some cracks on my tongue, some times very rarely it itches little, and goes away, but no burning or so. in XXXXXXX 18 i was having severe cough cold, which i consulted a pulmonologist he prescribed tabs, and Maxflo250 rotocaps, nazal spray, presently continuing Maxiflo 100 rotocaps, in feb18 i have slightly swollen glands for which i consulted a ent specialist, he has prescribed me Augmentin 1 gm tab. and Metrogyl gel for tongue, after using this course i had skin peeling which has gone now. but my tongue cracks are still there. does using Maxiflo 100 rotacaps cause this can u please suggest how to get out of it...

Appears to be fissured tongue.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have viewed the image and it looks like Fissured tongue.

It is a harmless condition and generally does not cause and serious problem other than a bit of irritation.

Also it is commonly genetic in origin.

It does not need any specific treatment and the only thing that you need to do is to keep the fissures clean.
Use a soft toothbrush to clean the fissures.
Do warm saline gargles.
Use antiseptic mouthwash to rinse after meals.
