Brief Answer:
Never to use fourderm on face. Can cause side effects.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

Hope you must be enjoying your good health.

I have gone through your complete query and noted your concern.

Fourderm is a Steroid base cream which is basically used for mixed infection.

The steroids in this cream and related all other steroid based cream have a property to reduce inflammation. Due to this the skin is felt smooth with better textured for a short period of time.

But on long term and unsupervised use it can cause thinning of skin with visible blood vessels, atrophy of the skin with very fragile papery skin.

I quite often see patients using this kind or related steroidal creams and getting a lot of side effects.

I suggest you to not to use this cream at face or any other body parts also as it can cause serious damage on long term use.

I hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
Further guidance for Retino A gel

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome back and thanks for your further follow up.

Retino A gel 0.1 % works well over the scars. It contains Tretinoin in it which is a vitamin A ester and it remodulates the scars by developing new collagen formation.

The effect of tretinoin is slow to build up and takes many months to show the improvement. But the only issue is of redness, dryness and flaking of skin after its application. Many patients get such kind of appearance after its application which remains for few weeks to few months. This redness declines as the product gets adjusted to the skin.

In your case I had found that you were quite troubled with the part of redness. We had already discussed regarding your redness issues. It is almost more than 6 months since we had chat regarding your redness and other issues. Do let me know how’s your redness. Is it still persisting or you feel better in the same.

Re: Further guidance for Retino A gel

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome back and thanks for your swift reply.

As you have moderate redness so in my opinion you should not use Retino A gel. It can cause further increase in redness over your cheek area and can cause more dryness of skin. In my view you should start it when the redness becomes mild in appearance.

Do continue with good diet and proper gel based sunscreen application to get a settled face.

My all best wishes for your healthy and glowing skin.

Hello Sir,

I had previously used Sotret Gel , Opexa - can you please tell me about these as compared to Retino A?

Is there any better among these 3 or better than these 3 that doesnt cause skin redness and is yet effective?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Opexa gel would be better as per your choice.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome back and thanks for your further follow up.

Regarding your further queries :

Both sotret gel and retino A gel are almost the same. These are basically vitamin A derivatives which have mild structural difference. But the effect of both these gels are exactly the same.

So in above context I would prefer to suggest you to kindly apply Opexa gel. This contains dimethicone silicone and ascorbyl both which helps in modulation of the scars.

The better thing about this gel is that it doesn't causes redness and dryness of skin.

So in my opinion opexa gel is better choice as compared to the other two gels.

I hope this helps.

Hello Sir

Thanks for the detailed explanation

So on the whole if i ask you if there is any better scar modulation medicine that you may think is even better than Opexa and if you would like to suggest ? Lets for a moment skip the redness point because skin takes time to adapt to the medicine, so in that case if you can suggest is best and works quite well at any given point?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Opexa would be better suited option.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome back and thanks for your further follow up.

In my opinion Opexa would be better suited option. As this weather is already quite humid and hot so any of the skin cream with peeling property could cause more unstable face. This could even induce new pimples and eruptions.

So I suggest you that if at all you want to apply any medication then Opexa is the better of the option.

Hope this helps.

Hello Sir,

Thanks for your suggestion.

As my skin remains a bit on the red side , i feel bit irritated throughout the day and at regular intervals around at space of 45 minutes i just sprinkle only water to refresh myself. Does it impact scars ? Is it fine to do that or i should minimize / avoid doing it?

Thanks
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia (6 hours later)
Brief Answer:
No effect of sprinkle of water on scars.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome back and thanks for your further follow up.

Sprinkling of water does not have any impact on scars. It also does not have any impact ( nor good neither bad) on normal skin texture as well as on scars. It is fine if you do sprinkle after once every hour.

As it is hot and humid weather so it will give you a soothing feeling. You can continue the same during this weather. Do not apply any creamy or oily products during this weather.

I hope this helps.

Dr Sanjay Kanodia
