Does The Lesions Indicate Scabies?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: Hey.

Could this be scabies or something else?
- It's itchy at night mostly and also after I showered.
- My hands and knuckles are a bit redish just when I woke up but go back to normal.
- have a white spot on my hand just above the knuckle and one at the beginning of my penis.
- some hard small pimple like spots on my elbow, also had on my inner thigh but they disappeared pretty fast so not sure they are related.
- It does not itch much on the red spots, it's more on my body.
Other then this, I'm feeling totally normal, no other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Most Likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome to HCM,

Clinical picture and the sites mentioned by you is more in favour of scabies.

In scabies lesion appear in the fashion of circle of Hebra, web space & ulnar border of palm, ulnar border of forearm, elbow, axilla, nipple, umbilicus, genitalia, and thighs. Papular lesion appears at these site.

Any other member of family affected?
As scabies is very contagious and it spread take only 15 - 20 min of close contact.

Scraping of tiny bit of skin (done by dermatologist), which is painless and looking for mites or its eggs under microscope will confirm the diagnosis.

Hope this is helpful.
Thanks
