Brief Answer:
depends upon location and size of hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM,
Five to six hours for a hernia repair sounds too long to me. It does depend on the size and location of the hernia but usually hernia repair surgeries are short surgeries.
I would definitely seek an other surgeon's opinion and get an estimate of time they think it may take to do this repair. Five to six hours seems too long for a hernia repair.
