Does Squatting Help With Easier Defecation?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Oct 2017
Question: Dear sir,

Two months ago made a bilateral hernia surgery. The biggest problem now is to avoid lifting weight and avoiding forced defecation. I understand that both are the biggest enemies of hernia.

I recall a year ago. But also because of regular constipation and Suffocate to force defecation caused my groin hernia.

1. But I would like to ask sometimes I can not avoid the use of force defecation. Now when I am forced to take the form of exhalation ( not Suffocate ) will avoid the formation of hernia?

2. Some people say that seat toilet is not good. The use of squatting toilet will be more healthy and easy for defecation. But would like to ask if I use squat toilet way defecation. Will this posture increase the pressure on the groin instead?

Brief Answer:
Squatting is very helpful for you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
I've gone through your details.
I am Dr Kumar and would be addressing your concerns.

Answers are as follows-

2)Definitely yes -Proper way to defecate is through squatting. No it will rather help you with hernias and would prevent its recurrence.Makes elimination faster, easier and more complete. This helps prevent "fecal stagnation,Secondly it securely seals the ileocecal valve, between the colon and the small intestine. In the conventional sitting position, this valve is unsupported and often leaks during evacuation, contaminating the small intestine.Thirdly it relaxes the puborectalis muscle which normally chokes the rectum in order to maintain continence.
Hence in all three ways squat Uses the thighs to support the colon and prevent straining and would be very helpful in your case.

1)Straining in any form should not be done.Take a laxative like lactulose 15 ml once daily basically it will stimulate your intestines and would cause defecation without straining. Its over the counter and is very safe.

I can't understanding what you are asking in these lines if possible kindly try to re explain it and follow up.
Now when I am forced to take the form of exhalation ( not Suffocate ) will avoid the formation of hernia?

Waiting.
