Brief Answer:
Ultrasonography to get the diagnosis and tests of urine, blood and stool.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
To recapitulate : M/33 - 2 weeks - pain left flank to back area just above the hip bone - nausea - appetite, urine and stool normal - tender lymph nodes in neck just few hours - Doctor feels kidney stone and to drink more water - increased frequency of urination -

Since this is 2 weeks, it is better to get get the blood, urine and stool checked and to get an ultrasonography of the abdomen to get the possible cause confirmed or ruled out.

The pain you have described can be due to Urinary tract infection or colitis. Ultrasonography can help to get the diagnosis and a plan for for further investigations and treatment.

Another possibility is sprain to the muscles of the abdominal wall causing a local tenderness.

I hope this answer helps you to get the diagnosis at the earliest and the most proper treatment.

Hello

Thank you for your reply

I have had some groin discomfort also but sexual function seems ok and there is no lumps/bumps in the testicles.

I will attend the local walk in clinic and hopefully receive some further testing to confirm the issue. UTI seems to fit the symptoms more so than Kidney stones

Thanks for the advice

regards

Brief Answer:
please get investigations done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your feedback.
Good to know the additional information.

Please get all the tests requested for to get an accurate diagnosis. This is so because we see in many cases that the stones on ultrasonography can be an incidental finding without any symptoms and sometimes reverse- Lots of symptoms but the tests are negative / normal.
It is difficult to judge just on symptoms whether one is suffering from UTI and / or stones.
Hence it is imperative to have relevant tests to have a proper diagnosis. This alone can guide us for a proper and permanent cure.

Ct scan no kidney stone but evaluation pointed to Mesentric Panniculitis.Rescan advised for 3months time. However I have been scheduled to see a consultant in 3 weeks.

My concern is enlarged lymph nodes in neck with no throat infection or similar.I have this alomg with weight loss and insomina. My doctor belives this to be pyscological due to worry about the stomach condition.

How long should i ignore the enlarged neck nodes ?

Brief Answer:
Should not ignore - ASAP

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback after more than 3 weeks.
Possibility of Mesenteric Panniculitis noted.
I hope your Surgeon must have also noted the lymph nodes and must have discussion on that point too.
Weight loss and insomnia can be due to abdominal condition also.

For the Lymph nodes:
FNAC- Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology and if required the excision biopsy will give us a confirmed diagnosis.
Lymph nodes do not come because of Psychological stress.

You should not ignore lymph nodes, it is already weeks together.

Lymph nodes where not noted by doctor as when tried to explain was told needed to relax...

Situation therefore is difficult as now need to find a second doctor and there is only one at my practice.Possibily i can seek 2nd opinion from private doctor.

Lymph nodes new sypmton have only become an issue in last 7 days as has the insomnia.

To clarify approx 5 weeks ago pain in stomach appeared diagnosed by 2 doctors as kidney stones. No change in condition had Ct scan 1 week ago.

From results - Small volume mesenteric lymph nodes are seen within upper small bowel with some inflammatory stranding consistent with mesentric panniculitis.
Results recieved 2 days ago.Last 7 days lymph nodes have swollen and insomnia has started.

Currently taking ibroprofen for pain relief

Will look to find docotor to investigate lymph node concern asap

Brief Answer:
Yes, get a second opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback again.

When the lymph nodes are below 10 mm (1 cm) also called as sub-centimeter, it is possible that many Doctors would not bother much as most of the times these are reactionary lymph nodes without any obvious reason for their development and / or persistence.

Since they are persistent, it is better to get a diagnosis of a benign problem by simple test of FNAC.
Please take a second opinion so that there is a chance of probable diagnosis and treatment of your problems including insomnia.

Reports: small volume mesenteric lymph nodes within upper small bowel with inflammatory standing consistence with Panniculitis.

Please continue Ibuprofen at least thrice daily. You may need an antibiotic.
Let us hope you get one Doctor who would do the tests and proper diagnosis of all the problems you have and you get a relief and cure.

All the best .
