Brief Answer:
Antibiotics should be given.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
In my opinion, swollen lymph nodes in a diabetic person requires evaluation for Bacterial, Viral infection or Tuberculosis.
My recommendations would be to give a trial of antibiotics like Amoxycillin for a week, and if they don't reduce in size, then you need to get there Fine Needle Aspiration and Cytology done (FNAC).
I would say, that Prednisolone should be given with caution and under antibiotic cover in a diabetic person, as it increases the blood sugar and chances of infection.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
