Question: I would like to know weather this the write treatment what we giving.
Only worry is at this age to continue this medicine for long.

Thanks for writing to us.
I have gone through your history and reports attached.
Definitely it looks like ulcerative colitis.
The treatment is perfectly correct.
Initial steroids followed by mesacol maintanence for 2 years is the norm.
Your child can safely take these medicines under constant supervision of your pediatrician or pediatric gastroenterologist.
Annual endoscopy is usually done to assess progress and response to treatment.
Other drugs like tacrolimus are only for uncontrolled colitis.
You need not worry about continuing for so long. The disease requires such treatment which needs to be done for the recovery of your child.
No need to hesitate. Follow your doctors advice strictly.
