Does Intake Of Gentamycin, Cephalothin And Flucloxacillin Help In Treating Abdominal Peritonitis?
Question: Dear Doctor, can you advise out of the three IV antibiotics which would be the antibiotic of choice for a serious infection of abdominal peritonitis.

I am so sorry to hear about this diagnosis of bacterial peritonitis. This combination of antibiotics is needed to cover for all possible germs present in this infection. The only time we can go with fewer is when we have a culture result which shows exactly what antibiotic type can act best on these germs. Until then, I will say still faithfully to these antibiotics and do not try to even reduce the any of the combination at this time. I have equally reviewed these laboratory results which supports an infectious process.

Thank you Doctor, with respect to.Gentamycin, when this antibiotic is administered by IV 160mg is it a single dose. over 2 days ..or do they keep replacing the plastic or glass container where a line flow from that container to the conulalar under the skin..so does the Gentamycin bottle change every 6 hours or does it last 48 hours in one bottle.

Depending on the preference of the doctor, Gentamycine can be administered once or twice daily. Also, there is no need to change the plastic all the times. Only the drug has to be served from the pharmacy every time it is required.
