Question: I experienced hair loss while using depakote. Will my hair grow back after stopping depakote. Doctor will stop me on depakote medication but i want to know if my hair will grow back ..

Depakote contains sodium valproate which is used for controlling seizures.Hair loss is one of its side effects.Hair loss will revert if drug is discontinued and new hair growth will also start but slowly.Taking biotin supplementation will enhance faster growth.

However there are more common causes of hair loss such as

hormonal,
stress related,
dandruff,
thyroid disorders,
iron and vitamin deficiency.

It will be important to rule out these causes as in these cases hair loss will not revert even you stop depakote.

Consulting a dermatologist will be better option.
