Does Easting Meat Regularly Help In Height Increase?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: Are Indians who eat meat regularly taller then Indians raised in India? What is the expected height of a male child born to a dad who is 65.5 inches (who grew up without eating meat or eggs) and a Western mom 63 inches tall? Note the child was raised outside of XXXXXXX and ate meat regularly.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day.
Children who eat meat regularly and those who gain excess weight and may enter puberty earlier. If they enter puberty earlier ( before 8 yrs in female and before 9 yrs in males) , there is a chance of sudden rise in height, but final height may be lower. If they enter puberty in normal age, the chances are that they will end up having predicted height ( according to parent's height).

However children who eat moderate amount of meat get good nutrition and that is beneficial for normal height gain. There will not be any acceleration of height just based on eating meat alone.

The height prediction based on the information provided is different for boys and girls.
The information regarding height of parents are, father 66 inch ( 163.75 cm) and mother 63 inch ( 157.5 cm). According to this data, male child's expected final height is 167.125 cm +/- 10 cm ( 66.85 inch +/- 4 inch) and the expected height in a girl is 154.125 cm +/- 10 cm ( 61.65 +/- 4 inch) . However you must understand that many other factors will modify this prediction like hormone disorders, age of onset of puberty, nutritional status etc.

Hello. I think you made a mistake. Mother is 161 cm an father is 167.7cm.
Please re calculate. Also please remember that dad did not eat meat or eggs. Child did eat meat and eggs. Not too much though.

Please re calculate

HELLO,
My apologies. The mistake was when i converted inches to cm. On re calculation, if the chiild is a boy, the expected final height will be 170 +/- 10 cm and i a femal child, the expected final height will be 157.85 +/- 10 cm. This can vary mildly based on many factors including butrition.

FAther's diet has nothing to do with child's height

Father s diet has something to do with height. Dad always thought he was little so we would be little. He did not eat meat; nor eggs. So he was genetically probably taller than he became. For example, he has large feet and hands for someone his size. Please comment. I think he would have been taller if he had eaten egg and meat. Please comment.

There are many vegetarians who are very tall. If dad's nutrition was poor during childhoood, then his final height would have been affected ( even though he has better genetic potential). Eggs/meat has no direct relation with height.

I am only 5 7. My brother is 5 9. My grandfather on mom's side was 5 10.
My grandfather XXXXXXX side was 5 6.5. Is it really normal that I be only 5 7?

How could this happen? Yes, I am a bit taller than my dad but not really enough.

When I was a child I did not urinate at school because I was too shy; so basically from age 5 to 12 my bladder was full in the afternoon. I did not urinate from 7am to 3pm. Could this have caused a slowdown in kidney function and bone metabolism; lined to calcitriol and parathyroid hormone?

My problem is that if I had genetics to be a bit shorter but am taller than my dad; why are my hands and feet smaller than my dad? They are around 3% shorter; and 5% shorter than my brother's (he is 5 foot 9). And why are my testicles small? They are only 4.4cm tall. Is this because I am half Indian? Do Indians have smaller testicles than European men? I feel that my genetics were programmed to be taller but two environmental things messed them up; one is the shy bladder which caused a chronic renal insufficiency (like kids with renal disease who grow less)--basically I was malnourished? The other is the isotretinoine I took for Acne just before my 17th birthday. Evidence are the stunted hands; feet and testicles.

Please comment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yourself and your brother have reached the predicted height according to your parents.( 170 +/- 10 cm). There are many factors. Some people have strong maternal genes and some people have strong paternal genes.
For example, I am 5.7 feet in height, where as my younger brother is 5.11 and youngest brother is 5.10. Individuals differ even if they are born to same parents.

I don't think your hypothesis of kidney trouble is right. Kidney disease if once started, is progressive and by now, you will have all signs of kidney trouble like swelling all over body, breathing trouble etc. Deficiency of calcitriol and excess Parathyroid hormone etc can occur in kidney disease and it manifests as bone pains and osteomalacia.

Kidney disease can cause malnutrition and growth will be stunted. If you have normal serum creatinine and no swelling in face/body ,it is unlikely that you had kidney disease.

Again, the minor difference in size of hands and legs between son and father/siblings are common. Regarding the testicular size, what makes you think it is small? We look at testicle volume by comparing with an instrument called orchidometer and anything more than 15 -20 ml in an adult is normal.
And yes, European testicular size may be slightly bigger than Asians.

Isotretinoin is a vitamin A derivative and birth defects are reported in children born to mothers using Isotretinoin in high dose during pregnancy. However use in adult life can not cause shrinkage of hands/feet /testicles.

Dear Doctor:

How lucky your dad to have three kids. Now; I am pretty sure that just because your brothers are taller it does not mean they have larger hands than you?

You brothers are so much taller; is it so genetic? Are Indians getting taller? Did your brother eat meat or eggs; and did you eat eggs? Do you think you brothers had a more nutritious diet than you? Is it possible to inherit height genes from your dad and skin color genes from your mom? I have lighter eyes and skin color than my brother. My mom was the taller one and also white. Incidentally my brother was born in XXXXXXX and my mom had more sun. I Was born in Germany and mom had less son; so I think it made my skin lean towards more white tones. Fascinating; yes; i am saying that indians who would like lighter children should send the mom to London or a place with less sun.

First of all concern the kidney problem. Chronic renal insufficiency is known to cause changes in calcitriol and parathyroid hormone which effect growth. I know that if the bladder is full the GFR rate slows down. When I was younger; aged 5 to 12 I did not use the bathroom at school. So i believe that the GFR slowed down; hence; not urinating slowed down my kidneys for roughly 4 to 5 hours per day. Would the reduction in GFR not have reduced the calcitriol being put into the blood? Would this not effect the absorption of calcium from nutritional sources? Would this not have caused me to grow less; like I was undernourished? Could this be without any other symptoms?
I did a test for creatinine and the result was 90. Based on their model my GFR was 95 which I think is low for a healthy 38 year old male.

As far as my testicles, a doctor in Europe told me they are small. i believe in Europe the average is 5cm tall. That is why I was wondering if Indians have smaller testicles.

What is the AVERAGE EXPECTED (not a range) Bioavailable testosterone for a healthy 38 year non smoking male with regular exercise? What is the expected SHBG; and Prolactin level?

Please confirm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
My brothers do not have bigger hands than me and all of us had similar diet and we eat eggs and meat.

Current generatiion Indians are taller, probably due to better nitrition and improvement in financial status.

You get genes for height and colour from both parents, but one gene will be stronger than other and that is a deciding factor.

Exposure of pregnant lady to good sunlight helps to improve Vitamin D status and may darken the mother's colour. There is absolutely no evidence that that will influence the baby's colour.

Bladder obstruction can cause reflux uropathy by back pressure which is usually prevented in normal people by valves in ureter in a normal person even if the bladder is full. Besides, urinary bladder is very stretchable and once it fills beyong its stretching capacity, voiding happens automatically.

Your creatinine of 95ml/mt is quite okay. ( eventhough text book says 120 ml/mt, anything above 90 is good.

Testosterone levels can only be expressed in a range as the level fluctuate in a same individual widely. Normal total testosterone range is 3.2 to 9 ng/ml.

Prolactin in a male should be less than 20 mcg/L and SHBG in a male is in a range of 18-60 nmol/L.

So are you saying that possibly your hands are larger than your brothers ; even through you are not as tall.

So first you are saying that I may have reflux uropathy. Can you test for this with an ultrasound of kidney and bladder? I am a bit concerned that I have a GFR of only 95. Sounds low.

I don't know the symptoms of reflux uropathy but I do recall that if my bladder is full; and I don't void the need will become more urgent; but after about one hour the need will decline. Is this a symptom of reflux uropathy? Sort of like the bladder is slowly emptying back into the kidney because it can not empty the other way. As in to avoid exploding it slowly empties back into the kidney ; i think in this case the urine is put back into the blood. It would be so bad that once I was in a place where I could pee it might take me some time to relax the spicter PC muscle before urination started. Please comment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
No my hands are of equal size to my brothers.

No I didn't say that you have reflux uropathy. Just mentioned that, chronic urinary obstruction can cause that. As I mentioned earlier, a normal person will not have reflux uropathy due to effective defense mechanisms by valves in ureter . Besides, urinary bladder is very stretchable and and can hold over a liter of urine.once it fills beyond its stretching capacity, voiding happens automatically.

eGFR of 95 m//mt is good. ( even though text book says 120 ml/mt, anything above 90 ml/mt is good).

Please relax. Do not worry about it. Grossly, your health sounds good to me.

You stated you are the same height as your dad? Are you sure? In XXXXXXX do you use metric or imperial for height? I ask because you said your dad is 165 cm; this is not the same as 5 7. 5 7 is 170cm.
Please confirm which is which and if you are same height; Also is your mom 158 cm or a different height in inches?
Also isotretinoine dries out epithelial tissue. It is an accutane medicine. Is there epithelial tissue in the testicles? How important is it that it be moist for proper growth during age 17 or so? Could taking isotretinoin (retonic acid vitamin A) dry out testicle tissue to harm growth?

Good morning.

Yes, we live in coastal area and eat a variety of fish/seafood for lunch and dinner, chicken thrice a week and red meat once a week. I said my dad is 165 cm ( approx. 5.5 ), and mom is 158 cm. The expected height for me and my brothers were 168 +/- 10 cm. Our height is in this range.

I am 5 feet and 7 inches which is around 173 cm. To concert feet to cm, we multiply by 30. To convert inch to cm, we multiply with 2.54.

Yes, there is epithelial tissue which lines the cells in testes and almost every organ in body has epilthelium. In the listed complication of isotretinoin, there is no mention of testicular dysfunction ( even as a rare complication). If your semen analysis is normal and if your fasting testosterone levels are okay and if testes is over 15-20 ml in volume, then it is normal and not to worry.

Dear Doctor:

Okay first of all if you are 173 cm you are around 5 8; not 5 7. You are quite a bit taller than your dad. 8cm. I think one of your brother is 180cm which is over the top of the expected range.

My testicles are only 10 to 12ml in volume. They are not over in any way over 15 to 20ml. Since I can remember I had small testicles. Even when I was 15 they were smaller than my friends but I just thought it was variation. On the ultrasound they were only 34mm in length X 24mm X 15mm Some doctors tell me I was born this way ; as my mom was type I diabetic (under insulin before getting pregnant); but I am not so sure this is the reason.

I think the reason is I had a kidney insufficiency. My GFR Was probably really low; even during puberty it was still low (recovering). Kidney insufficiency ; even mild can alter the Gonadtrophic function which would effect the stimulation of leydig cells and maturation of sertoli cells.

I think also my penis did not grow as much as it would have due to the lack of testosterone. Even now my bio available Testosterone level is only 43 to 72% of laboratory normal levels. My sperm count was only 50 million/ML which is well below average in health men and shows that the testicles are small.

Would there be perhaps use of trying a testosterone injection program, with HCG 2000 IU X 3 week? I know I would need an aromatese inhibitor also. And a bottle of Rogaine. Which type of testosterone? I read that HCG can help hypogonadic men who did not complete virulization (even if over 25). Also can testosterone cause penis growth in men who have low testosterone and always did (even during puberty). And what about a dht gel like Andractim. Please let me know your thoughts.let me specify bioavailable was 1.46 nmol/L ; two weeks later is 2.24 nmol/L
both of these readings are 42 and 74% respectively of the LOWER LIMIT for the normal range of the lab; and much lower than the average level.let me specify bioavailable was 1.46 nmol/L ; two weeks later is 2.24 nmol/L

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

We measure height here in cm. All of us are less than 180 cm.

If you are sure about the testicle volume of 12 ml , then it is low. To be XXXXXXX hypogonadism ( or low testosterone levels) cause delayed fusion of long bones and many people who develop hypogonadism in pubertal years tend to be taller due to delay in epiphysis closure of long bones. How is your body hair growth and shaving frequency? What about libido?

If you have Low Testosterone levels on at least 2 different occasions ( it should be done in the morning in fasting state), you should check your LH and FSH levels in the morning. Based on the value of LH and FSH, we will be able to plan further.
If the testicle size is small and if you desire to have baby, then hCG may help, but need long term treatment. If fertility is a priority, better not to use testosterone now as that may cause reduced sperm count. Testosterone treatment can help in penile growth in pubertal years and not much afterwards.

I strongly feel you should meet an endocrinologist directly and he may need to examine you and go through your history and advice you further. Internet can often confuse you. Personally, I don't feel you have kidney trouble.

Dear Doctor:

I am not saying I suffered from complete hypogonadism. Only partial. This has probably been since I was a child. I think I HAD mild to moderate undiagnosed kidney disease (or renal insufficiency) as a child. It only effected my height growth. As I grew it became less severe but still effected the GNRH pulse frequency and duration; so LH levels were lower as a teenager. So all things male in me did not fully develop. Even if bone closure was delayed; growth before was delayed. And then the isotretinoin advanced the bone age anyway so catch up growth was limited.

The LH and FSH levels were normal. 5 to 10. My wife got pregnant last Nov by mistake because we had sex once without birth control . But also lot's of sperm are dead or not moving forward.

i do not desire to have a baby. I would like just that my testicles be more normal size and produce more testosterone; I would also like that my voice be deeper and that my penis grow some.

If someone suffered from hypogonadism during puberty and it is not treated until now will the testosterone help penile growth; larynx and vocal cords? Little penis growth; or none? Which testosterone to take and how much?

Also what about adractim DHT Gel 2.5%?

Please advise.

Hi

Detailed Answer:
Okay, If you are not desiring to have another baby, and if your Testosterone is low, then next step is to do a Prolactin level + Thyroid function test and if that too is okay, we can start on Testosterone replacement.

It comes in various forms as monthly injection, long acting 3 monthly injection, Testosterone pellet, gel etc. The choice is yours. Personally i prefer monthly injections. It will improve your libido, improve well being, mood etc.

Regarding testes size, testosterone treatment may not increase testicular volume. Because majority of testicular volume is composed on seminal vesicles and you may need FSH injections to increase the size. However, it is not a common practice to inject that unless to induce spermatogenesis in a patient with central hypogonadism.

Regarding penile length, it may not really make much difference at this age, but will significantly improve your erection quality.

DHT is the active form of Testosterone and generally we prefer that if there is deficiency of 5 alpha reductase ( the enzyme converting Testosterone to DHT). To be XXXXXXX we don't have DHT preparation available in my country and i don't have experience with that. You may discuss that aspect with a local endocrinologist.

There are number of parameters which have to be monitored while on testosterone treatment and you may need to contact a local endocrinologist for dose adjustment and monitoring.
Best wishes

Dear Doctor:

See I think the kidney problem caused my growth to suffer. My hands are quite small. Seems like there was a calcium processing deficit. In fact smaller than pretty much any guy I would run into (waiter; hotel receptionist, etc.). In fact I am not as short; there are shorter men than me but almost always they have bigger hands than me. I am pretty sure that if you do not urinate for 8 hours a day as a kid; and on most days; you will cause a reduction in kidney function which will harm calcitriol levels, and eventually parathyroid hormone and gnrh levels. Remember I did become chubby starting around 9 years old and this lasted for three or four years. As i started using toilets at school ; and with puberty my kidney function improved; but I believe GNRH function was harmed even through puberty. And my Glomular filtration rate was still low until I finished growing which sort of repaired some damage. That is why I grew some ; otherwise I was supposed to be 5 foot 4 (when I was 10 they thought this). They were thinking of putting me on growth hormone. But then they felt I would be 5 foot 6 and that it was not necessary. So sad they did not do any other tests. Remember hands stop growing at 16; that is why they are small; especially the distal phallanges which are really thin compared to the middle and proximal ones. Fortunately most long bones stay growing until later so i did do some catch up growth. I had my IGF 1 level tested in Feb and it was 209 U/L which is reasonable I think. I do not think I had a growth hormone deficit per say. Also not urinating 8 hours a day would probably have reduced blood flow; because if you hold in your urine you are tightening muscles which I believe restrict blood flow to the penis and testicles. So their childhood growth (however little) ; would have suffered. Please comment on this? Does the penis grow during the daytime during childhood? Do the testicles grow during the daytime? For children?

My thyroid level was tested last Feb and found at around 1.7 (normal). The prolactin level was around 17 to 18; which is a bit high; at end of the range. In fact the upper limit of normal level was 16. At the time my bioavailable testosterone was 2.24 nmol/L. The lower reference of the lab normal range starts at 3.

I would like the testosterone that you would have given to me if you had met me when I was 10. My goal is not to gain a ton of muscle. I need to know which one to get? I just want to androgenise my body the way it should have been one when I was younger (like 13).

Will the sertoli cells respond favourably (perhaps) to the type of testosterone you prescribe; like they would in a 10 year old?

I heard that when they give a 10 year old testosterone his penis will grow and I would think also the testicles? Is this true? Please confirm if testicles grow when you treat micropenis in children?

I do not think I have an alpha 5 reductese problem. I have some body hair and do shave normally; i have normal facial hair. I do however have less body hair then my dad did at the same age. I also look very young for my age. If I shave people say I look in the mid 20's. But body hair doesn't mean that I did not have a testosterone deficit because I think you grow body hair with even low levels of androgen. I believe genital and testical growth (especially) require higher levels of androgens.

By the way to be clear my penis is 14 or so erect and 7cm or so flaccid.
But I Think it is a bit shorter than most by a few cms.

Would it be helpful to take HCG 2000 units 3 X a week?
What about arimadex?

I can get most lab tests done easily where I live.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello,
Your penis sze size reasonably good. Testosterone tretment will not increase sertoli cells to proliferate. But If you take hCG or FSH injection, then testicular size may increase and as i mentioned before, we often use this in people with small testicular voulme and no sperm count to improve volume and count.

If the testosterone levels are low, we start on a small dose of testosterone injection once every two weeks for 2-3 doses before we start the full dose of 200-250 mg every 3-4 weeks. You will need a prescription from endocrinologist for this and please meet an endocrinologist who can examine you and do necessary evaluation and then decide on testosterone replacement.

Arimadex is not useful in increasing testicular volume or penis size

Like patients who were on dialysis and then had a transplant.

What is the testosterone type that you give to kids who are 10 with a small penis? Does this also increase their testicle size?

If I take HCG is there a risk of leydig cell desenzitation? For example could I harm myself if I took 2000 Units 3 x week for 2 months? I Would take arimadex with to keep down estrogen. Is it possible that the testosterone will cause immature sertoli producing cells or tubes to mature?

Also with FSH injection or HCG are changes ; e.g. increased volume; are they permanent? Can they be permanent?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day.
In patients who develop hypogonadism due to chronic diseases ( like kidney disease) we have to treat the underlying cause effectively and then prescribe testosterone. If they have edema over body, we dont prefer testo patches or gels. Best would be tablets or injection.

In kids, who fail to enter puberty ( by atleast 14 years), we tend to analyse the cause and in most cases, they respond to 3 monthly shots of small dose testosterone injections. This will kick start the puberty and increase penis size. For micropenis, we tend to give testosterone treatment at much earlier ages... Testosterone treatment in childhood and puberty increase penile size but does not increase testicular size. Once the natural puberty start, the FSH surge will increase sertoli cell size and increase in testicular volume.

If you take hCG ( it is human chorionic gonadotropin which is placenta derived hormone which behaves like LH hormone), the intratesticular testosterone increases and that helps to increase testicular volume and helps in spermatogenesis. ( However, please understand that direct testosterone will not cause this).

The effect of FSH/hCG injections are transient and when we stop treatment, testicle tend to atrophy again ( unless there is enough FSH production by pituitary and the testicle sertoli cells remain sensitive to it).

Binu

which is the testosterone you give to kids who fail to enter puberty?

Which is the name of the testosterone you give to kids who have micropenis?
What is the size of child penis that you would recommend testosterone? Up to which size childhood penis would you treat with testosterone?

So testosterone does not cause the testicles to get larger even in children?
If there are more sertoli cells does this cause the leydig cells to produce more sperm. If you have more sertoli or more active sertoli cells will the brain serete more LH so there is more testosterone.

Do the leydig cells become resistant to repeated HCG injections?
I believe the kidney problem caused a reduction in growth hormone. I read that when this happens your feet and hands are small for your real age and correspond to our height age. My feet are size 26.5 but my brothers are closer to 28. My dads are like 27.5. So I think I should have grown about 5% more which is easily 8 cm.
Due to the lack of growth hormone my penis did not grow as much before puberty ; so as an adult it is smaller than it would have been. I do not know if the tesiicles grow during childhood as they would have? But I think that if they did not what can be done now?

Basically I am the size i would have been around 14 to 15. Pretty much everything.
i think there was also a lack of GNRH during puberty due to the remains of the kidney disease and lowered kidney function. This would have meant my testicles never matured enough to produce testosterone and sperm. My sperm count of only 50 Million M/L corresponds with a maturity age of XXXXXXX 4 (15 years of age).

What can you do to help increase the size of my testicles; I think they need FHS and HCG but I do not want to desensitise them.

Also i was missing testosterone during puberty so I need something; to stimulate any virilization that did not happen.

I know you have probably never ever seen a case like mine and I thank you for your understanding and patience.

Is testosterone a common treatment for children with a small penis? Do you see many cases of this? For how long has this treatment for children existed?
Are there any disadvantages to treating a child with a small penis (vs a micropenis)?

Might there be some penis growth response to testosterone in my case as my penis did not ever receive a high level of testosterone like is normal during puberty?

The nephrologist thinks I had a case of hypogonadism caused by kidney disease (reflux reuropathy). I am doing a few tests but so far the symptoms he described perfectly match the symptoms I experienced (notably that you void and then a few minutes later you can void quite a bit again).

So please plan a treatment for me.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day.
I was away on holiday and apologies on the delay.

My current clinical practice is only in adult patients. But we used to see lots of children with micropenis during childhood days. During childhood, micropenis or small penis improve with testosterone treatment. We use SUSTANON but in small doses in children for a brief period. This kind of treatment existed for many decades now.
In adults with low testosterone, replacing with testosterone will have no or minimal impact on penis size . Testosterone treatment will not improve testicular volume or size. For increasing testicular volume, hcG or FSH injections are required and it is helpful only in around 50% cases. hcG stimulates leydig cells and FSH stimulates sertoli cells. The type of testosterone used is SUSTANON in my region. It may differ in each place based on the preparation used.

At your age, GH treatment or testosterone will not increase hand or leg size. ( if GH is used in excess it may cause broadening of hands like in ACROMEGALY).

Sperm count more than 15-20 million is good and is adequate for fertility. 50 million is not low.

I agree that yours is a bit tricky situation and may require a multi disciplinary team approach. I strongly suggest you to please meet an endocrinologist who can examine and help you further. I will not be able to prescribe testosterone and it is not legal as well.

So sad to now that the sustanon treatment existed for many decades now.

I have noticed that my hands are relatively wide. I remember that when I was 15 I had one of the widest handspans in the class. So you know my handspan is 23cm.
But my hand length is just 18.5cm from tip of middle finger to first palm crease. And I have reasonable size thumb and pinky. But shorter middle finger and ring finger.
My palm is also quite wide. It is like I had a good amount of growth hormone but it got messed up and longitudinal bone growth was harmed due to kidney disease.

Please comment.

Detailed Answer:

Growth of hands and kegs need combined action of growth hormone, Testosterone, Thyroid hormones and other growth factors. Apart from these, genetics , nutrition etc also contribute. Fluctuations in any of these in varying levels may affect the body proportions.
Bone disease related to kidney disorders are distinct. They produce low bone density and low mineral content ( osteomalacia). That is a separate entity altogether.

hCG is useful in only in 50% patients and after certain period it will no act further.

when you say it will act no further; please specify? IT will not increase testicle size anymore? Does it de sensitise leydig cells to LH?

I read it can help create more leydig cells; and increase the size of the leydig cells?

Please comment?

Detailed Answer:
The effects of hCG and FSH is better in childhood rather than adult life. In adult life testicular tissue has limited growth potential and is effective only in half the cases. If your testes volume is already 12-15 ml, further growth may be minimal.
It doesn't really desensitize Leydig cells.

Side effects : headache, leg edema, testicular pains. Most importantly, high estrogen levels and gynecomastia.

What you have to understand is that, having a sperm count of 50 million and testicular volume of 15 ml, you don't really qualify for hCG treatment and even if used, the benefits will be just minimal. It is reserved for young boys with undescended testes, to induce testes growth in hypogonadsim in those who have very small testicular volume who is desperate to father a child. Kidney disease or any other chronic illness can cause hypogonadism

Dear Doctor:

I had undiagnosed kidney disease as a child. That is why my Glomular Filtration rates is only 95 ml/minute. It is well below where it should be. Average is 110. It like 2 SD below average. I was not born with a small penis or testicles. This happened because due to kidney disease they did not grow during childhood. When puberty started they were smaller (and so was I). The main thing also is that the GNRH signals are weaker in patients with kidney problems. So around age 14 they never got as strong of a GNRH signal as they should have. In this case might HCG and FSH work?

50 million/ML is hardly average. Average is at least 100 million. My testicles are hardly 4cm tall; so I do not think they are 15ml; I measure them with a ruler. One doctor told me they were hardly 10Ml and another one was surprised I had the 50 million count with such small testicles. Another told me ; that my testicles 'are not large'. They look like large olives or large grapes. They do not resemble small eggs like in most men.

I have around 30 vials of 2000IU HCG in the fridge; 25 pills of 1mg arimedex.

Also when you did childhood treatments of small penis; was this common? I mean do you think you treated 1 kid out of 100; or 5 out of 100; or 10 out of 100?
Why would my doctor not have noticed I had a small penis as child? He checked me during a physical several times for summer camp.

Detailed Answer:
Dear friend,
As I said earlier, doctors do not consider a GFR of 95 as low.
There are standard charts available to decide stretched penile length ( SPL) in each population. If that is lower than that, we call as small penis.
Testicular volume of 10 is small and I am surprised too if you have sperm count of 50 million. Usually the dose is 1500 to 2000 units of hCG a week for atleast 9-12 months. Testosterone levels and sperm count will be assessed after 3-4 months to compare with the basal levels. Testicular volume will need minimum 6 months of treatment. We do not routinely use Arimadex for this purpose. THIS NEED SUPERVISION BY AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST OR XXXXXXX

Small penis is rare in medical practice ( may be partly due to parent's ignorance). I would say we see it 2-3 a month in an endocrine unit. However, large referral centers may see large number of patients ( but you have to consider the referral bias). It would be 1: 10000 or so.

At 10 years, an estimated mean stretched penile length(SPL) ( excluding foreskin) is 6.5 +/- 1 cm and in adult ( non erect) SPL is 13+/- 1.5 cm.
May be your penile length was adequate as a child and hence your doctor failed to notice.

Are these statistics for XXXXXXX children or western children? Would there be a difference? As a child (even 10 ) my STL Was 4 to (maximum) 5 Cm. But honestly I never measure it but I know it was little. Now my SPL is perhaps 13 to 14 cm. I read in a study that the average stretched penis length in XXXXXXX men is 16.5 cm? And erect length 15cm. Is this true that SPL in Western men is 16.5Cm (o 3.5cm ) more than in XXXXXXX men?

The thing is that I know that my penis did not grow much during childhood. It was (not streched) perhaps 3 cm and my brothers was 5cm or so (not streched). He was 4 years older than me.

When I was young (5 to 6) he told me I had a small penis so I stopped using urinals at school which is what caused my kidney and problems. I should have spoken to my dad about this instead at that time.

A doctor in France told me that he would give testosterone to any 10 year old if SPL penis smaller than 6cm (o 8 Cm) at age 12. Obviously, much larger than a micropenis.

Does this mean that these kids with borderline small penises (e.g. 7cm at age 12) end up with a really large penis before puberty? Then they have a 20 cm SPL penis after puberty? What stops the penis from growing at the end of puberty?

I do not know what to do now. Also the XXXXXXX is not very wide.
I am taking andractim but I do not know if this will work at all.
That is DHT gel. I am trying to widen the XXXXXXX
Any opinion?

And do stretch devices like phallosan penis strechers really work?

Which testosterone works best for androgenic needs; susteron; propionate; cypionate, undacate; ou enthanate?

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Your penile ( non erect) length of 13-14 cm is quite good for XXXXXXX as well as European standards. There is not much difference between Indian/Asian and European size. The USA size you mentioned is for Blacks. XXXXXXX race do have bigger size penis size.

I agree with the doctor in France. at 10 years if I see a penis length less than 5 cm, I would be concerned.

Each individual and organ has a genetically programmed maximum growth potential and what ever treatment we give, we can not stretch the length of the organ beyond it's maximum potential. That's the explanation for your question ( What stops penis from growing at the end of puberty?)

DHT will not increase your glans penis width.
There us no evidence base for the stretching devices.

We use a combination of testosterone esters which is called SUSTENON ( propionate, cypionate, undeconate and enanthate)

HAVE YOU MET AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST IN YOUR COUNTRY YET? ( PLEASE DO NOT GO BY THE ADVICE OF UROLOGIST ALONE).

So a question;

that means my penis had a problem growing during childhood due to stunted growth and my renal insufficiency. At 10 I doubt the stretched length was over 5cm.

You told me that each penis has a maximum growth potential which stops it growing at the end of puberty. Are you sure about this? What is that on average; 15 cm SPL; or 20? I know it depends on the individual.
IF this is true; and my penis did not reach it maximum growth potential would testosterone work? Might it be worth trying?

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
I understand your problem. Long wait list indeed is a problem in many countries.

For a person who is half Indian/half european, a good SPL would be a around 13 cm ( non erect). You may try with testosterone, but seriously, i doubt if there will be any further growth in terms of length.
However, if you are deficient in testosterone, replacing it will help to have a good quality rigid erection and it will improve well being and mood.

Dear Doctor:

Basically the only doctor I can see here in France is not available until Dec.
I do not want to wait longer. I have access to lab tests, etc. I read on line about a teenager somewhere who took steroids during his teenage years and his penis was like 6 inches flaccid. I think pretty soon you will have a lot of young teens taking steroids and average penis size will increase.

I checked on line ; testosterone susteron contains testosterone iscapionate testosterone decanoate; testosterone pheylproprianate and testosterone propionate. Is this the one you are talking about? The ingredients are not exactly the same as the one you spoke about earlier. Please confirm. The other possibility is testosterone cypionate but I think it aromatises more.

Also does susteron cause irreversible damage to sertoli tubes and cells?
Or can this be avoided by taking concurrent HCG?

Also I can tell you I think most SPL of Europeans are at least 15cm ; 16cm and not 13cm. And I think that XXXXXXX SPL s are increasing as Indians are taller and have a better diet.

And yes it is possible my dad had small testicles (in fact my mom once said so; but she was probably comparing them to my grandpa who was 5 10 and American). But if his testicles were small it was probably due to nutrition and diet vs an XXXXXXX diet. So this should not have effected me. And I can tell you I am pretty sure that most men who are 5 10 (in the WEST) will probably have a larger penis than someone who is 5 6. Also I can tell you that most men who are relatively tall (over 5 9 in the WEST) have testicles that are AT LEAST 25ML or even 30ML.

I will be very blunt; you and your brothers probably have larger penises and testicles than your father. You are taller than your parents most likely due to improved food; and probably you ate meat and fish more often than your father. Please comment.

The half Indian/half European logic is what the doctor in the USA used to decide that since I Was growing to be 5 foot 6 (at least) I was okay. They forgot that my dad was 5 . 5.5 because he did not have excellent nutrition (Indian in 1950's) and did not eat enough protein. I feel through the cracks. Even when I was chubby and 10 the doctors failed to test why I was growing less; they just said I would be over 5 foot Six and that would be okay. The globular filtration rate of 95 is not really great; okay it is not low; but is a sign of previous (perhaps childhood) kidney trouble; that during puberty kidney grew and outgrew deficiency. Please comment.

Hello

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day.

Testosterone preperation compositin can change from place to place. We use two preperations in my area ( SUSTENON and TESTOVIRON). They contain different combinations of testosterone esters. They do not irreversily damage sertoli cells. But Testosterone treatment can cause negative inhibition of LH/FSH and GNRH during the treatment period and in the absence of LH and FSH surge, the testes sperm count wiill tend to become low ( but the semen volume may not reduce) whilst on testosterone tratment. Co treatment of Testosterone with hCG is not recommended.

However, the sperm count returns to normal after few weeks/months after discotinuing testosterone treatment as the LH/FSH axis recover from the negative inhibition.

You are right in that, penis and testes sizes can vary based on height and weight as well as child hood factors like nutrition etc. the 13 cm is the minimum average size of Penis and the statistics available are several years old. With the current generation is certainly taller, the size too can vary. Someone will have to conduct a study now to define an age and race specefic cut offs for penis size. However, a testicle volume more than 15 ml is good.

Regarding my family status, my measurements are certainly proportional to an average XXXXXXX and i am unaware of rest of my family. However, all of us are well virilized and have kids and our sex life is good too.Obviously, my grand dad was a school teacher back in 1947 when my dad was born and his nutrition would have been compromised those days. My dad is a doctor and we were born to richer parents and ofcourse present generation nutrition is much better.

Going through your questions, i certainly feel that you are very stressed. Do you consider a medical tourism? You could come down to XXXXXXX and meet one of top endocrinologists here and get the tests done and get an opinion in fraction of the cost compared to France? Now being end of summer, august/September is better time.

I am based in Muscat now and will not recommened this place for a second opinion. XXXXXXX would be great and a teaching institition will be able to help you further to clarify your doubts in terms of reproductive endocrinology and about your kidneys.

BUT TO BE XXXXXXX at your age, if you are not planning for having kids, no one will advice hCG injections. Testosterone may help if your levels are low to improve virlization and libido etc.

Regards
Binu

So 13cm SPL is the minimum normal?
The median is higher?
What is the mean SPL?

Your dad was also an endocrinologist? And did he eat meat?
Why do you not prescribe HCG with testosterone; it is can cause to much oestrogen build up?

From age 7 to 12 I grew much slower; perhaps at half the normal rate. Obviously my testicles grew slower and penis also. It is pretty simple math; the SPL was perhaps 4 cm at age 5; at age 12 it should have been 9 or so. IF you have a 50% reduction in growth ; the penis would have grown to an SPL of 7cm at age 12. It was not more than this. This would explain why the penis is a couple cm shorter than it would have been.

My testicles are larger than 15ML (if measured by height, L X W by .72). They are like 4.5 X 3X 3.5cm. But that is based on measuring them myself. In ultrasound they came out smaller because when they hang the blood flow is reduced and they get smaller. Also when i sit up they get larger. During the ultrasound you are only semi seated. I think I may have a bloodflow problem explaining this. I have a varicocelle which could be the reason that when they hang (no support) they get smaller?

As far as medical tourism to India? Maybe; I know they do the body streching procedure; but I think it is safer in Italy or Florida.

Detailed Answer:
My dad is a GP.

What i have is only a mean SPL of 13 cm +/- 1.3. Sorry, i am not so good in maths and i do not know the other answers. I am referring to the average adult penis size.

There is no rationale to give hCG and Testosterone together ( if the leydig cells are good, hCG itself will make them produce enough testosterone).

You should measure testes volume, ideally on stading and compared with a standard orchidometer.

what i meant was an endocrine consultation in XXXXXXX if your appoint date is very far. We do not recoend any stretching procedure.

( I am off to a meeting today and will not be available to answer questions until wednesday night)

Does Easting Meat Regularly Help In Height Increase?

Brief Answer: Hello Detailed Answer: Hello, Good day. Regards Binu
