Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
The 5 oz of wine with 0.25 mg of xanax after four hours is completely safe and not associated with risk of toxicity for a 49 year young healthy male.
Although I must inform you that this is safe provided it is prescribed and not for intention of abuse.
I hope this helps you.

Hi there,
Thanks for the answer. I should note that I accidentally indicated me gender as male. I'm actually a 49 year old healthy female. I take xanax only very occasionally to help with anxiety. When I say occasionally I mean .25mg less than 1 or 2 times per month, at the most..
I drink wine, a giass or two, with dinner on the weekends. I don't plan to take Xanax at any particular time but in the event that I do feel I need it and I've had a glass of wine, is it ok to take? Even just an hour or two after about 5 or 6 ounces of wine?
Thanks,

Brief Answer:
The risk ratio increases if you narrow down the gap
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.
As I can see there is significant differences in parameters posted earlier and at the follow up, I like to say the chances of toxicity increases if the dose of alcohol is high (earlier it was 5 oz now it is 5-6 oz), the gap between alcohol and xanax is less (initially it was 4 hours and now it is 1-2 hours) and female gender.
Having said this I like to inform you that still it is safe but you are advised to limit your alcohol intake to 3 oz on any occasion.
I hope this helps you further.
