Question: Dr. XXXXXXX Robinson:
Thank you for your concern! I have decide not to have needle biopsy because of any risk of a collapsed lung.
When I had a tumor removed in right lung, 1999, the surgery went well, then lung collapsed, after 7-10 days when lung wouldn't stabilize the surgeon removed the lung. Cancer cured minus a lung.

I will opt for a bronchoscopy for tissue biopsy.
I truly appreciate the follow up. Audrey XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
thank you so much

Detailed Answer:
I really appreciate hearing about your decision. These decisions are always hard to make. I trust that you are doing what is best for you. In this situation I would probably have made the same decision. I wish you the best

My husband had a splenectomy and a colectomy in 2006. He has had a chronic productive cough since that time. He was hospitalized in jone 2011 with pneumonia and has had recurrent pneumonia since then. He has had fifteen courses of different antibiotics as well as two rounds of prednisone. A bronchoscopy done recently showed the right middle and lower bronchus full of mucus and the left upper bronchus almost totally occluded. He was cleaned out and cultures done. As with all other sputum cultures done over the past year the results were negative. He is now having productive cough, sweats, fatigue, pronounced hoarseness and generally feeling unwell. His doctors are stumped and do not know how to treat him. We are desperate for answers and treatment. Any suggestions? He is 48 years old, 5ft 10, 185 lbs

4 years back incidently doctors found one pulmonary nodule on my right lung on chest X-rays. They asked for CT and the result shown 1.5 cm size. I undergo Bronchoscopy also, but didnt show any problem then. But after these long years I am having on and off fever. Agin asked for Contrast CT. and the result shows that the nodule grew to size of 2.6 cm. and am asked for bronchoscopy again. The first result of bronchoscopy showed on reading like 18HU. is there any possibilty of malignancy. Or is there any risk with that nodule.
