Brief Answer:
increased sedation with combination

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Both trazodone and remeron are somewhat sedating. The doctor that prescribes these medications would need to monitor the level of sedation and adjust doses of the two medications appropriately. Many patients with depression and insomnia do well on both remeron and trazodone. It is heard to treat depression with trazodone alone because it is just so sedating. However treating his depression with the remeron and adding the trazodone as needed for sleep could be very helpful to him. It is true that many patients experience an increase in appetite and weight gain on remeron. If that would be helpful to him it could be a good choice for his depression. Once he is stabilized on the remeron he may not need the trazodone. Best wishes to you and your husband. Thank you for using HCM.

My husband has very negative reactions to that class of drugs that Remoron is. Such as hallucinations, out of body feeling, and extremes agitation, as well as, much. Deeper depression. And also similar reactions to Mao drugs. What drug would you suggest be used for previously stated reasons. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
wellbutrin/cymbalta

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your follow up.

Remeron is not an SSRI, but if he has had a bad reaction to remeron as well then he could be tried on wellbutrin or cymbalta.

I hope he can get some relief soon.
