Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Sulfa itself does not adversely interact with oral Tetracyline. For example, the antibiotic Bactrim (also called Septra) is not contraindicated with Tetracycline.

It is possible that one or the other are causing side effects.

By upsetting your system, do you mean that you are getting hives? That would mean an allergic reaction to one of the medications.

If the problem is diarrhea, it may be the combination of antibiotics that is wiping out your 'good' intestinal bacteria in which case, if the problem is mild, take a probiotic while you are on antibiotics. Take it everyday but not at the same time as you take the antibiotics.

If diarrhea is severe, call the doctor who is prescribing the antibiotics as he or she may want you to stop taking them and possibly be tested for clostridium difficile - a bacterial infection of the gut that can come about after antibiotics.

If the problem is stomach pain, it is not an allergy or bacterial cause but usually due to an irritating effect of the antibiotic. If that is the case, talk with the prescribing doctor as you may need to switch to a different antibiotic.

I hope this answers your question.
