Does Propofol Cause Sleeplessness?
Question: I had a colonoscopy at 12 noon yesterday. Propofol was used for sedation. It is now 5AM the day after
and I have been unable to get any sleep. No pain or other symptoms. Can Propofol be the culprit?

I understand your concern.
Propofol has sometimes been associated with post operative insomnia but it is a rare side effect. And the procedure would have been short too making the dosage of propofol quite small. In small dosage of propofol, this is rare.
Whereas other causes like anxiety, post procedure pain are more common to cause insomnia. In any case, do not worry. It wont need any medication.
Just relax. Eat healthy and very soon you will get good sleep. Might sedatives like alprazolam might be required only if insomnia persists.

Thanks for the information. I slept like a baby last night. Must have been just
a happenstance with other factors (prep, leaving off antidepressant and other meds, liquid diet, etc.).
