Brief Answer: Antioxidant diet does that, so does SERM Detailed Answer: Thank you for asking! Your sperm count of 21 million is still a good and normal one but at the lower border of normal. any count > 20 mil is normal. Plus sperm retrieval technique is quite difficult and is never reliable. I consider it for differentiating only azoospermia ( no sperm at all). So you still have a very handsome chance to conceive. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that acts as an antioxidant and free-radical scavenger in lipophilic environments. Vitamin E requires bile for absorption, and 25% of it is absorbed orally. The vitamin is stored in adipose tissue, liver, and muscle. Due to its scavenger and antioxidant properties it helps in fertility and its deficiency may cause sterility. But before pointing it as a cause for sterility a serum panel should have been taken to assess the values. The reference range of vitamin E in adults is 5.5-17 µg/mL and it would be considered a sterility factor only if its below that range in your serum. Otherwise excessive use of vitamin E reaching levels of >40 µg/mL may cause troubles like same by All cell mortality, Constitutional and gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, gastric distress, abdominal cramps, diarrhea; headache; fatigue; muscle weakness),Coagulopathy (easy bruising or bleeding; prolonged PT, aPTT; inhibition of platelet aggregation) and impaired immunity. Ovamit is basically SERM / Selective Estrogen receptor modulator and it acts on sertoli cells of testicls thus stimulating spermatogenesis so literature wise it should increase unless there is some etiology underlying cause for low sperm like Endocrinopathies Antisperm antibodies, Retrograde ejaculation, Poor semen quality or number,Lifestyle issues and Infections. SO in nut shell, anything with anti oxidant properties such as vitamin C and vitamin E has been proposed to improve the quality of sperm by decreasing the number of free radicals that may cause membrane damage. Additionally, the use of zinc, fish oil, and selenium has been shown to be of benefit in some studies. Rest infertility issue needs to be addressed by considering your partner too as women are mostly responsible for infertility. A sperm count of 21 mill can give a handy conception after all we need only one sperm to fertilize . Its the matter of ovum availability and road leading to it which decides it. A fertility consultant is to be consulted and sort out the cause of infertility. Assisted reproductive techniques can be considered if natural ones are not helping. But i am sure conception will be achieved eventually. I hope it helps. Dont forget to close the discussion please. May the odds be ever in your favour. S Khan
