Brief Answer:
Consult your doctor and stop it

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Thanks for your query.

These are the side effects of nortriptyline. You should visit your doctor urgently, meanwhile stop taking the drug.

Nortriptyline usually does not cause more sedation but in your age it may cause these side effects.

If your taking it for depression or anxiety than you can consult your doctor and ask for alternate drugs like sertraline, escitalopram or fluoxetine. These drugs do not cause much sedation.

Hope I have cleared your doubt. Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Take antidepressants which don't cause sedation

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Thanks for writing again.

You have not mentioned that, which antidepressants have you tried?
There are drugs which do not cause sedation and weird feeling that your are talking about. I am pursuing my DM in geriatric psychiatry and I daily prescribe many antidepressant drugs to people of your age.

These anti depressants are Escitalopram, Sertraline, fluoxetine, Bupropion, Duloxetine, desvenlafaxine.

If you were not given any of these then you must visit a psychiatrist and ask for one of these which suits you best.

I usually prescribe escitalopram [lexapro] to my patient and they tolerate it best. I read your past queries and discussion. You have not tried lexapro [escitalopram], so as per my suggestion you should give it a try.

Apart from antidepressants, You can go for psychotherapy and counselling, Cognitive behavior therapy, engage yourself in activities like recreational, social outgoings, family gatherings, read inspirational literature, make friends, mild exercise according to your health like walking, swimming etc. Spend time with grand children if possible.

These are the activities you can do apart from drugs. Visit a psychiatrist and discuss all these with him.

I hope this will be helpful to you. wishing you good health.
