Does Mirapex ER Have A Generic Drug?

default
Posted on Sat, 27 Dec 2014
Question: Does mirapex ER have a generic drug? If so what is the name of it, the shape, and the numbers on it. I have taken some meds that were supposed to be my 3.0 mirapex but has apo on one side it looks like and the other side looks like atv 20 maybe it is hard to read. I have been contacting your group for the last 2 weeks with dizziness, vomiting, swollen hands and feet, and a hurting back. Could this be my problem? Perhaps a wrong med? What is the pill I have taken?

Brief Answer:
Suspect mix-up with atorvastatine.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I am sorry about the issues you have been experiencing.

To my knowledge apart from Mirapex ER there is only one generic extended release mirapexole approved in the US (where you appear to live) produced by anchen pharmaceuticals. There are many other pramipexols by other generics but none is ER. Unfortunately it has been approved only this year and I confess to have had to do only with Mirapex in my practice and am not aware what it should look like.

On the other hand I know the drug which has apo on one side and atv20 on the other and that is not pramipexole but Atorvastatine. As I said the imprints are precisely APO and ATV20 it's white and elliptical. So if the color and form corresponds as well it might well be a question of the wrong drug. Atorvastatine could cause some of the symptoms you are like nausea, dyspepsia, musculoskeletal pain and arthralgia.

So I suggest you take it up immediately to your pharmacist to make sure what drug have you got.

Hope to have been of help and the issue will be resolved soon.
