Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: Doctor,
I am taking Meprate to regulate my periods. Is it safe to assume that it acts as a contraceptive too. Or should I take a contraceptive separately while on this medicine. Please confirm. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply doctor. But I was of the opinion that both these tablets, Meprate and contraceptive shouldn't be had together.. Please advice.
Can you let me know which contraceptive has to be taken.. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Barrier contraceptive

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, barrier contraception like condom is best to use with meprate. It has no interaction with meprate.
Oral contraceptives are hormonal preparation, and there can be alteration of efficacy of both the drugs, leading to improper function.
