Does Luvox Interact With Adderall?

Question: I am currently taking 100mg of luvox and was prescibef 20mg adderall daily. Is this a safe combination? I keep reading about serotonin syndrome. I understand it is a very rare condition. should I be concerned about this?

Luvox is one of the more serotonergic SSRIs, this is true. However, serotonin syndrome is exceedingly rare, and only occurs when very dangerous combinations of serotonergic medications are used together; a good example is an MAOi mixed with a very serotonergic SSRI. Adderall is a stimulant, not a serotonergic medication, and is very commonly used an an augmentation strategy with SSRIs. To make a long explanation short, this is a safe combination, widely used, and should not cause serotonin syndrome.
