Does Hydromorphone Work Better Than Norco-10/325?

Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: What is a better and stronger sleep aid other than temazepam, lunesta, ambient cr,Thorazine, Trazadone, XXXXXXX Rozeram. These are the ones I've taken. The best has been 15mg temazepam with thorazine. Unfortunately, insurance won't pay for lunesta any more and my psychiatrist won't prescribe Thorazine nor any other sleep aid since he gave me temazepam. What can I ask my doctor for. She doesn't seem to know either. I need to sleep well, gentle and wake up refreshed. None of these combinations have been able to do this. Temazepam and Rozeram by itself is a joke and so is the doctor, she tried prescribing Temazepam today when after I told her medication nurse. No of doesn't work well for me. The thorazine and temazepam combo went well. And the temazepam Ambien CR works somewhat, but it takes me awhile in the morning to get going. No restful sleep though, just get knocked out.

Also, does hydromorphone work better than Norco 10/325 and would it make me very drowsy. I'm thinking of changing doctors as this one is too busy and forgetful and I would like to give professional suggestions to him/her.

Thank you in advance for your help and guidance.

Please help.

Brief Answer:
Lorazepam, Flurazepam or clonazepam is an alternative, Mirtazapine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing back.

Among the drugs you have mentioned temazepam is the best for sleep disturbance. Other medicines are not as much potent as temazepam. You do not have adequate response with temazepam alone.

As you have GAD with insomnia I would prefer Lorazepam, Flurazepam or Clonazepam in that order if I were your treating doctor. They are long acting and will be helpful in daytime anxiety also apart from sleep disturbance.

Mirtazapine is also good option being helpful in anxiety and sleep. it should be added to some sleeping pill like temazepam.

Hydromorphone would work better for pain symptoms then Norco. It is not indicated for sleep or GAD. Let me know for which purpose you are taking the same.

- Is there any other medicine going on for depression or GAD?

Discuss above aspects with your treating doctor. If she is not accustomed with such drugs changing of doctor will help. If your doctor is not psychiatrist please consult psychiatrist as only psychiatrist can use such medicines and effective manner.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
