Question: I have a prescription that was filled but I never took it. It is called Diphen/atropine Tab by MFR; Mylan
It says it's for Diarrhea. My husband has had bad diarrhea for 2 days and I wanted to give him one of these pills. Is that ok to do so? Or what should we do about diarrhea, he s very tired and does not look good?

Brief Answer:
you'd better avoid it without a diagnosis...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

although it may help in the most common cases of diarrhea, in other cases it may make things worse. I recommend avoiding it without a diagnosis.

Symptoms and signs that should make you even more cautious include blood in the stool, persistent abdominal pain, fever. Make sure that he drinks enough fluid, to replenish the water and electrolytes lost in the stool. Watching the urine production is an indirect way to find out if he's well hydrated. If he has more than 1 liter of urine and the urine color is not dark yellow then the hydration is probably adequate.

If his blood pressure is low and his pulse rate high then intravenous fluids might be required.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
