Brief Answer:
Get examined and evaluated by a neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
The symptoms are suggestive of early mild dementia.
Initially, word finding difficulty, naming difficulties and recent memory loss occurs.
You need to get investigated for thyroid disorders, liver function test, renal function test, blood sugar, vitamin B 12 deficiency.
Drugs like donepezil, memantine or rivastigmine can be started after evaluation and examination by a neurologist.
Mri brain may be done too.

I am really frightened to go to an neurologist
I certainly don't want to not be able to drive
I live alone and I just can't except it Like cutting my legs off
Because of my drinking I had compromised by liver and pancreas I went to a treatment center and all my functions have returned I am three years sober and I go to anAA meeting five times a week
It really frightens me to think that my memory is on the decline
I have two wonderful children and 3 granddaughters under4
Because I live alone I would never want to give up driving
No one in my family has ever had dementia
When you can't drive anymore part of you dies
