Brief Answer:
Need follow up. Some. 6-12 weeks usually.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.

Assuming you have infected your fingernails - the prescribed drug for you is usually advised once a day for at least 6 weeks (12 wks atleast if toenails) with a follow up to check it is resolved, as you might know fungus does have a bad quality of recurrence. Hence, a complete cure mandates good hygiene and regular follow ups.

The known side effects of taking this drug orally (common ones) headache, taste change, stomach upset/nausea/abdominal pain/gas, loose stools, rash/itch,
abnormal liver function tests. Do reach out to your doctor if you think you cannot cope with these - there are alternatives.

Let me know if I have missed out any other concern in your question.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,

Dr Sujeet N Charugulla,
