Question: Does amyl nitrite (poppers) have a negative interaction with Flomax?

Hello and welcome,

I did a couple of searches in drug data bases and could find no interactions listed between amyl nitrate and Flomax. So according to these data bases, no adverse interaction between these two medications have been reported in the drug literature. You can consider it safe to take the two together.

Amyl nitrite and Flomax can both cause some light headedness, so take care when getting up quickly or if standing for a while until you know how this combination will effect you.

I will assume that the doctor who prescribed the Flomax, also knows that you are prescribed amyl nitrite? If not, do let him or her know as they both can have similar effects (relaxation of smooth muscles).

Please note that it is Amyl Nitrite & not Amyl Nitrate (note the different spelling of nitrite/nitrate). Again I am asking about Amyl Nitrite AKA "poppers." Please confirm.
