Do Nutrilite Bodykey And Protein Powder Help In Reducing Weight?

Question: Hello Doctor,
I have consulted a dietician yesterday for weight loss. After checking my weight and height using a machine, she calculated the BMI and told that Im obsess. She has suggested Nutrilite Bodykey and Protein powder for me for the weight loss. Please let me know whether this Bodykey shake(which is a food replacement shake) mixed with protein powder helps me in weightloss or is there any harm in consuming this. Kindly help!

Thanks for writing in.

Nutrilite Bodykey and Protein powder is a product by Amway. I dont think there is any harm in taking it.

However, rather than taking commercially available products, I would strongly advise you to make lifestyle changes which might help reduce your weight problem.

1. Early morning after you wake up have 2 glasses of warm water everyday.
Warm water is good for the stomach/digestion as well as for the entire body.

2. Drink 10 to 12 glasses of water a day. Preferably warm water. It is said that drinking warm water at regular intervals can even melt down fat, according to ayurvedic principles. If plain warm water is boring, try boiling water with some spices like cardamom, cinnamon , ginger in a vessel and drink one glass of that water every 1 or 2 hour.

3. Avoid Oily, fatty and deep fried foods.

4. Avoid Fast foods, carboanted beverages , ice creams and chocolates.

5. Regular exercise 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week. Join a gym/Go swimmimg or get a personal trainer for fitness.

6. Sign up for yoga classes, which might take months to see results; but it will be worth it. It will also help you to stay motivated, with the deep breathing techniques.

7. Avoid late night dinners , as the body metabolism tends to slow down after sunset.

8. If you have followed all the above, maybe once a week, you can reward yourself with one scoop of ice cream or a small bar of chocolate.

Hello Doctor,

Thanks a lot for the reply. But please may I ask you, whether I can continue taking this food replacement shakes? I'm now afraid, whether it will make me go the other way as well, instead of loosing weight, because of the sugar content in the shake and protein powder. Moreover I dont find any time to do any sort of exercise as well. Also, even if after having this drink, im still hungry and finding it very difficult to suppress the hunger/my craving for food. So, considering all these, Im doubtful, whether to continue this or not.

No amount of food replacement shakes will provide the natural required nutrients, vitamins and minerals, that we get from our daily diet. So, in my opinion, follow healthy food habits like eating fresh fruits and vegetables/ salads when you feel like having a snack. Try to follow the measures i have mentioned in the previous reply.

In case you have already bought the food replacement shake, try it just once a day. Remaining meal times, stick to home made healthy nutritious food.
