Do Fever, Chills And Night Sweats Suggest HIV Infection?

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: I recently had an alcohol and cocaine fueled experience with a call girl. I have no idea of her status. Based on reading in the forum, I was reassured until 3.5 days post encounter I developed fever, chills, and had a massive night sweat, followed by sore/swollen throat. The sweat differentiates this from other colds I have had. Now I am worried about HIV. Here is what happened.
1. she performed condom-protected fellatio on me.
2. I performed unprotected cunnilingus and analingus on her, and had an open cut on where my nose meets my lip, which I am sure came in contact with vaginal fluid.
3. Toward the end, she took the condom off as I was becoming flaccid, I believe she got me hard again and finished me in her mouth but I don't know and it could have been unprotected vaginal intercourse. I just don't remember.

I have seen many similar posts and I think I should be fine, especially given on #3 I don't even remember, and am guessing it was unlikely she is even HIV+ and transmission rates are so low anyway. But I am looking for assurance whether the flu symptoms should concern me. Should I get tested and if so how soon, and is there anything else I should watch out for.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Oral sex caries a low risk for HIV. You were not able to remember about vaginal sex.
Fever and throat infection can occur to anybody. It is a very common problem. Close intimacy during sex (through saliva during kissing or air born) is more likely to cause such throat infection. Earliest manifestations of HIV (acute infection or PHI) can occur 3-4 weeks after the sex contact, in the presence of an infection and not earlier than that. So your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV. If you consult your physician he will cure the throat infection. For further investigations follow his guidelines. Get well soon.
