Brief Answer:
Antibiotics doesn't interfere with RPR test.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM

Probably you mean RPR as rapid plasma reagin test. You have not written clinical details.
It is a screening test for syphilis. It detects antibodies that are present in the blood of people who are suffering from the disease.

Antibiotics doesn't interfere with RPR test.

Negative test result is considered as normal.

Positive test result may mean that person is having syphilis. If the screening test is positive then it should be confirmed by more specific test for syphilis such as FTA-ABS.

Hope I have answered your question.

Over the past 10 years I ve taken RPR tests for sphyllis and they came back non-reaactive. My dr. said I didn t have it. Over these years my symptoms are getting worse and random and I ve been tested for Lyme, Lupus etc all negative. Therefore we did a FTA-ABS test and it came back abnormal , does that mean I have sphyllis for sure? He s going to to a TPPA test now. I have three children born in California in 1990, 1993, & 1999. Don t they legally test your children & you at childbirth automatically for spyllis? I m freaked out please shed some light? Thank you
