Brief Answer:
both terms are different.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.

Anteverted uterus and subinvolution of uterus is not the same thing.

Anteverted uterus is is basically a uterus that tilts slightly forward on cervix in a woman’s pelvis. It denotes the anatomical position of uterus in body.

Subinvolution of uterus is a condition in which the uterus does not return to its normal size after childbirth.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Wish you good health.

Take care.

Thanks.

thank you very much. is there any reason why sub involution of the uterus might appear to be placenta left in uterus requiring a "D and C" In other words patient was bleeding heavily had D and C but pathololgy report indicated there was no products of reproduction left in uterus but was merely a sub involuted uterus n thank hope question makes sense

Brief Answer:
placental site subinvolution can cause bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Sorry for the late response.

Firstly, Retained bits of placenta can cause subinvolution of uterus.

Secondly, there can be subinvolution of placental site of uterus and cause for this is not known. This can be a reason for heavy bleeding.
And probably due to this reason, D and C was done in this case.

A regular follow-up with gynecologist is advised for this patient to know future status of uterus.
Ergometrine (prescription drug) can help in involution process.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Dr. Nidhi Setia.
