Do Reclimet And TG Goal Cause Gastric Disturbances?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Dec 2014
Question: Hi

I am aged 38 and detected with Type 2 Diabetes with reports of around 170 and TG of 370. Post consultation with doctor , I have started taking Reclimet for the first time twice in a day before food since last 15 days and also TG Goal 145 once in a day before food at night. Off-late I am experiencing little bit of uneasiness inside my upper tummy which looks largely due to gas formation as after belch or release of gas I feel ok. Does having these tablets create gastritis...please clarify the same to me so that I can take gas tablets post consuming these medicines

Brief Answer:
TG 145 has gastric disturbances, solve by lifestyle changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for the query.
Out of the medicines Reclimate ( clomiphene) & TG goal145 (Atorvastatin) you are taking , T G goal is known to produce some gastric disturbances. (anorexia/nausea/vomiting)
You seem to have uneasiness due to formation of gasses. As you guess it might be partly due to side effect of medicine-- but I would inform you some thing more about diabetes which may be the causative factor of your problem.
Diabetes also results in sluggish movements of gastrointestinal tract. This causes slow progress of food in it,as a result of long standing , so there is more gas formation. this in turn results in bloating of abdomen, uneasiness Belching &gasses
The solution for this can be as easy as taking gas tablets after food.
But a far better way to control this is by few life style changes -which are digestion friendly. As you are still very young & diabetes is a life long disease, I would advise you to follow it & avoid the problem without medication.
It's good that you have already started with strict diet & exercises.
apart from this-
_ have a fixed time for eating & taking medicines also.
- avoid over eating as well as under eating.Avoid fermentable foods ( starch containing food-(potato,fast food)
- Be aware, digestion starts from your mouth itself. So chewing food sufficiently allows saliva to mix with it to start digestion .
- Drinking water while eating dilutes the digestive enzymes. Drink minimum water with food/ drink sufficient water after 1.5 hours after food.
- do not sleep immediately after eating. Sitting in Vajrasana helps for digestion.
-have sufficient fibers in your diet & 10 to 12 glasses of water in 24 hours. This helps movement of intestines & food in it & also decreases gas formation/constipation.
* You can add digestive enzyme preparation after food to start with.
I hope I have answered your question to satisfy you. any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
