Question: Good Evening Sir,
I am a 53 years male. medium built. Taking BP medicine (Ramipril 5 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg since last 18 years alongwith Atorvastatin 10 mg.) Unfortunately I was detected Type II Diabetes and Doctor suggested me Metformin 1 gr. SR daily once and gradually 500 mg SR once daily since 2009. Since then I have been regulating my dose for Metformin 500 as per needs. When I am very regular in exercise and food , I noticed that 500 mg SR once daily is enough for me but sometimes when I cannot go for regular walk and flexible in diet I have to take 500 mg SR b.i.d. Of course till date my FBS is 85 and PPBS 145 as per Glucometer I tested yesterday. Years back in later part of 2013 I have done ultrasound full abdomen and as per report my Prostrate Gland was very slightly enlarged. Other reports were normal. But I never faced any problem . I very rarely use to go to toilet in night time and I use to get a very good sleep at night. But since last week at least once I hv to go toilet at night time and it is very irritating Sir. Now I am afraid am I suffering from BPH? Sir, my libido has become very less and it is also frustrating. Please suggest remedies.
My regular medicines are Ramipril 5 mg, Amlodipine 5 mg, Atorvastatin 5 mg, Thyrox 25 mg , Metformin 500 SR b.i.d. till date since last month alongwith Pantop DSR s.o.s.

Brief Answer:
Possible BPH.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I can certainly understand your concerns.

I worked through your query in detail.

Your symptoms are possibly related to BPH.

None of your symptoms are caused by the drug side effects.

Enlarged prostate is most likely to progress to the BPH and frequency of micturition is it's Cardinal manifestation.

It is very important to confirm BPH by abdominal ultrasound with residual post voidal urine estimation.

Drugs like to antiandrogens and alpha blockers can help to delay the progression of BPH.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
