Question: I have a bad sore throat . Do I need to go to an urgent care,.Otherwise I feel ok.
It hurts to swallow.

I think a sore throat is one of the worse things.

If it just started (within the last 24 to 36 hours), then you can try topical and oral analgesia
Orally, anti inflammatory meds such as naproxen or ibuprofen may be helpful

Topically you can try diflam, dispirin, chloroseptic spray or gargle or covonia throat spray.

The combination of topical and oral pain killers would help.

Use cool/cold liquids and foods.

If the sore throat does not improve even slightly after 48 hours or it worsens significantly or there is an associated persistent fever then you should be seen to make sure that it is not bacterial (antibiotics would be needed)
