Do I Have The Right To Insist On Getting An EMG While Having Foot Drop And Numbness?

Question: I am a 79 yr old woman who had a distal femur replacement/repair and total revision knee replacement in Oct. 2016. After surgery it was immediately apparent that I had peroneal nerve damage. My surgeon told me that the nerve may have been stretched. To this date I have drop foot and motor and sensory loss. While I was in the hospital recovering I was not examined by a neurologist nor was I referred to one nor did I ask to see one. When I arrived at the rehab facility for further care, the doctors there told me that the nerve damage was not reported in the hospital records that were passed onto them. I had to be my own advocate and eventually with intensive PT i recovered some use of my left leg. I still have drop foot and numbness and pain. Even though I see a neurologist, he refuses to order an EMG because he says it's not necessary. An EMG was never ordered for me. Sorry to be so long winded but I'm feeling so dismissed and ignored and frustrated. Do I have the right to insist on getting an EMG? Please let me know what I should do.
