Question: Hi I am a female and I have developed 2 days ago a lump on my lower groin region in between the outside of my vagina and anus. I got it checked yesterday and the doctor thinks it may be a lymph node maybe flared up from a virus but it is quite painful. I feel it may be a hernia i am quite active bike riding etc, and do lots of heavy lifting
Also when I squat ie: sitting on toilet, I can feel it more
Also I forgot to add that I am getting dull cramps on the left side of my anus. I am mid cycle in my period and I do develop sometimes cramping during this time but it is a different feeling

Hi, thanks for your query.

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) The swelling is unlikely to be hernia because –

a) It is an unusual place for hernia and there is no hollow place through which any visceral organ can herniate.

b) Hernia occurs slowly over a time. It is unlikely to develop suddenly as you describe.

c) Hernia usually bulges out when abdominal pressure is raised eg. Coughing increases hernia size and can be felt. Your doctor would not have missed on this.

2) The swelling could be lymph node. If you still have doubt, please see a general surgeon who can examine the swelling to rule ischiorectal abscess or any other likely lesions.

I hope I answered your query. Get back to me if you need any other clarification.

Regards, Dr. Mahesh Koregol

Hi my name is Steve, I am 25 years , male. I have been suffering for the last year and a bit (since i stopped smoking) with the following symptoms : Belching , bloated stomach , fatigue , shortness of breath at times ,bloating makes it hard to breath, symptoms get worse when in moving vehicles. I don t get heartburn or any burning sensation at all in my esophagus. I had a gastroscopy about 3 months a go and was told that i have a Hiatus Hernia. I was put on nexium for a few months...it hasnt helped at all. im convinced that the hiatus hernia has nothing to do with the problem causing my symptoms. I went back to the doctor and was put on treatment for IBS and told to not eat certain foods..... its now 2 months later and i feel like im at the beginning again....feel just as i did the first time i went to the doctor. It is highly frustrating as it is effecting my daily life. Please Please help me understand what is going on.

Hello, for the last week, I have experienced sharp drops in my blood sugar, I have pretty severe hypoglycemia, but somewhat controlled with diet, however lately it seems like I am dropping much more often than before. I am experiencing constipation, but suffer more from diarrhea most of the time. My magnesium, potassium and calcium are all low, as well as some of the B vitamins and vitamin D that I know of. I have muscle weakness, fatigue, a hiatal hernia and acid reflux. But, it seems that there should be some underlying cause that I am missing to cause a vast array of symptoms and sensations. Can constipation cause weird sensations throughout the body like a heavy and full feeling in the head, pressure on the sides of my head, burning legs from the knees down, burning and tingling down the right side of my face that comes and goes and almost like electrical zips or zaps in the mid-center of my body along with a feeling of being hollow or empty even after eating? It is getting to the point that it is debilitating, and yet my doctor wants to blow it off as in my head. I live in a very rural area and he is the only one for almost fifty miles that takes my insurance.

I have been experience a burning sensation in my lower pelvic area occasionally. Especially when I am sitting. When I stand, it goes away. It seems to be subsiding but so far my physician has not been able to come up with an answer. I have had an MRI as well as EMK. However, the results are not in. I am not sure if they will show anything any way. Some years ago I had a hernia repair. Could this have anything to do with my situation? or Not. My physician stopped all of my cholesteral meds (I have high cholesteral and 13 years ago had a heart attack which required two stents. Have Reflux as well. So, far, I have no answers.
