Question: I have developed boils recently since past 2 weeks. Its seen towards the inner thighs below my private parts. I observed that the boils go away in some time, but new ones keep developing. Should I consult a dermatologist in this regard.

Thanks,

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing in.

Recurrent boils are caused by bacterial infection by a bacteria staphylococcus aureus.
It needs to be treated with special drugs like mupirocin.

It is available as a Mupirocin 2% oint.It has to be applied twice daily over the affected area. Also it has to be applied in nasal cavity where the source of infection usually is.

Also washing your hands frequently with antiseptic hand wash will help a lot.

A visit to dermatologist will be required to confirm the diagnosis and prescribe you few oral antibiotic drugs. This will help get rid of infection rapidly.

Hope this helps.
I will be available for follow up.

Had surgery on right long finger @ dip joint to reduce osteoarthritis pain. Earlier procedure on left index finger was successful (bones fused). This time bones did not fuse so a bone graft was done. Follow-up x-ray showed bone was a casualty of infection. At no time was the infection visible or painful. Third procedure was done to take out pins, debride area, and take samples for culturing. Results showed staph (not mrsa) infection and fungal infection. Immediately went on fuconazole by mouth and cefazolin infusion. Infections are gone but so is the pin that supported tip of finger. Tip of finger is unstable and requires a splint most of the time. On three-week hiatus. What are options aside from amputation?

im 18 years old, 5'7", 156 pounds, i had unprotected sex with a woman and got staph aureus. i went to a private clinic that isnt very expensive because i dont have a medical insurance. i have no clinical record, allergies or anything, im an athlete for my college. in the clinic i got laboratories for STDS for about $500, and the results showed staph aureus. ive been taking ciprofloxacinfor more than 3 weeks, and the doctor from the clinic isnt an specialist so he doesnt really know whats going on and what to really do. the infection should be out of my body already, but today in the morning i noticed that the head of my penis is wrinkled as when u're in the pool for too long and you finger tips get wrinkled, also, it has a kind of discoloration, and well the color of it isnt the same as before, its red as if it was irritated. what does all this mean, in what stage of the infection am i in or what is going on?
