Dear Dr. I Got Sharp Needle Like Itching In All
Question: Dear Dr.
I got sharp needle like itching in all my body without any rash 3 days ago and contacted doctor here in healthcaremagic and she described cetrizine 10 mg twice daily for me. The itching is little bit better but I have problem now which is insomnia. I couldn't sleep for three days just may be 2 hours in total. I feel so tired and sleepy but without sleeping when getting to bed.
Is that may be due to cetrizine or another cause?

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.
It is very unlikely that your insomnia is due to cetrizine.
Rather reverse is true.Though labelled as non sedating antihistaminic,cetrizine may cause drowsiness,confusion and lack of concentration in some subjects.
If your rash is improving,probably 10 mg of cetrizine at night should be sufficient for you.
Apply coconut oil and avoid use of soaps(which are acidic).
To improve your sleep quality,de stress yourself,meditate and do yoga.
Take an early and light dinner and go to bed early.
Avoid coffee,alcohol,smoking and tobacco.
Take a hot shower before sleeping.
Take lukewarm milk prior to sleep.It has a sleep inducing amino acid called Tryptophan.
Avoid screens at bed time.
Make the bed room more conducive with optimum light/darkness and air circulation.
If the symptoms do not improve,kindly seek medical attention and visit your clinician.
