Question: Dear Doctor ,

I have been having on and off Gas episodes with belching. Recently roughly two weeks ago i had mild stomach discomfort roughly 10 days ago, so took some probiotics. The stoll is normal , appetite is good , No nausea , fever etc. However at one point in the stomach when i touch i feel a very slight tenderness. the pain is not severe or sharp but feel a slight tenderness. this may be 3 cm below ribcage. i will attach a picture and round the exact position. since this is very slight tenderness can i just ignore it as of now ? . Also sometimes i have a mild burning sensation in the stomach . So overall gas , mild burning sensation and very slight tenderness at the point i mentioned. Also to let you know the Gas has considerable reduced in the past few days and no much of Burping too.

Brief Answer:
It could be gastroesophageal reflux, gastritis, ulcer, gallstones

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

From what you describe I would primarily suspect gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), gastritis, ulcer disease, or gallstones. I am looking forward to seeing your photo, as the location of tenderness is important to get closer to a diagnosis. Also, the remission you describe suggests a benign condition, e.g. GERD, gastritis or gallstones. As of now, it seems perfectly OK to simply see if it subsides completely. Have you been examined for helicobacter pylori infection or had a gastroscopy performed previously?

Hello Doctor , Thanks for the response i have uploaded the image of the spot where the tenderness is. i feel the tenderness is now hardly there , so defintiely feel its coming down .
No i havent been examined for H Pylori or gastroscopy done. Can i take something assuming i have h pylori or since its subsiding can i just wait and watch?

Brief Answer:
You can easily wait.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I would not start anyone on antibiotic therapy for h. pylori without evidence of infection (biopsy with urease test or breath test). I would advice on PPI (omeprazole, esomeprazole, etc.) for a course of 4 weeks, and see how it goes. After a further two weeks without PPI you can probably go to your doctor's for a breath test for h. pylori (depending on your geographical location).

Brief Answer:
It does not matter.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It does not matter. If the pain gets worse or changes location it may be ascribed some importance. If not, don't worry.
