Could New Brown Spots On The Thigh Be A Sign Of Melanoma?
Question: I am a 41 yr old woman. I recently found a very small, new, dark brown/black spot on the front of my right thigh. It’s very small, prob 1mm in diameter, but new and much darker than freckles around it. It isn’t raised or rough. I originally thought it was something like a blackhead and tried to pick at it, so in the picture it looks slightly bigger and there is a little red surrounding it, but that is from scratching at it. There is another very tiny spot right next to it, and I’m not sure if that is new or not. Could this possibly be melanoma? I can make an appointment with my dermatologist, but it will most likely be at least a few weeks if not months before I can get in.
Brief Answer:
Lentigo simplex. Not Melanoma
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is most likely a lentigo simplex. Not a Melanoma. A melanoma is usually of greater size than this (>5 mm) along with other features like color variegation, irregular borders, asymmetricity, deeper component etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
